UPDATE 6:10 PM: Brandi Cochran has been awarded $7.7 million in punitive damages (read the order here) in her suit against The Price Is Right Productions and FremantleMedia North America. That’s in addition to the actual damages awarded yesterday in Cochran’s suit charging that she was terminated because of her pregnancy.
PREVIOUSLY, 6:20 PM TUESDAY: Brandi Cochran sued The Price Is Right producers for discrimination when she was told in early 2010 she no longer had a job when she tried to return after taking maternity leave. Today a Los Angeles Superior Court jury agreed that Cochran’s pregnancy was the reason she wasn’t rehired and awarded her $776,944 in damages, the Associated Press reports. Defendants FremantleMedia North America and The Price Is Right Productions argued that they were satisfied with the five models working on the show at the time Cochran sought to return. A second phase of the trial will determine whether Cochran should be awarded punitive damages. FremantleMedia said it expects to be “fully vindicated” after an appeal.

Cochran with a right hook going for the tyson ko with punitive damage award. In some instances punitive damage can be a multiplier times higher 2,3,4,10!!! to teach the company a lesson. Pay me
Wow awarded nearly 10x the other award!!! got the multiplier
While I am sure Cochran is deserving in damages, this kind of thing happens all the time, pregnancy or not. I have seen situations where people become angry at employees taking scheduled vacations, bring in someone else to handle the “hot” project, and then terminate the original employee because the new person is cheaper.
This show has sucked since Carey took over hosting duties a few years ago and it just looks like a big mess on a soundstage right now.
Drew Carey is actually doing pretty well.
We know the price now, but who’s bid came closest to 7.7 million without going over?
LMAO!
My bid was $1.
The government is determining the rights of an employer to terminate an employee. Sign a performance contract.
I wonder if the court room played the Price is Right fail horn when the verdict award was announced.
This is nothing new from TPIR. Go back to 1970 and start questioning employees. You will find the same TPIR producers have been harassing models every year. The judge should summons all former employees to tell who are the guys who have been getting away with it for too long. FREMANTLE SHOULD MAKE IT END.
I wonder if the lawyers for the defendant used the line from Happy Gilmore….
“The price is WRONG, Bitch!”

Mike Richards is an IDIOT! Sexual harassment has been a way of life at Price is Right for years. Do a little research into past law suits.
CBS, Fremantle and Price is Right Productions is a hugh cash cow and as long as it continues to bring in the money, anything is tolerated.
All management should be fired and a new awareness should be installed at all three companies.
It is inconceivable that Richards reacted the way he did. He needs to be the first to go for ignoring this issue.
