Hollywood has been one of Barack Obama’s biggest supporters during this Presidential campaign, and with less than 24 hours until polls open, the town is out today knocking on doors, hitting the stage and picking up the phone for the incumbent. Mad Men’s Jon Hamm, longtime supporter Eva Longoria, Parks And Recreation‘s Rashida Jones and Natalie Portman are just a few of the 181 surrogates on the trail today, according to a list released by the Obama campaign (see the full list below). Mitt Romney has star support on the final day of the campaign too: American Bible Challenge host and comedian Jeff Foxworthy, Fight Club’s Meat Loaf, Kid Rock and the Oak Ridge Boys will be performing at Republican rallies today.
Not all Obama surrogates are from Hollywood — Bill Clinton, John Kerry and a lot of mayors are on the list — but many are. The Dark Knight Rises’ Ann Hathaway, who co-hosted a fundraiser for Obama at Harvey Weinstein’s Connecticut home in August, and The Avengers’ Scarlett Johansson, who spoke at the Democratic Convention this year, will be heard on Top 40 radio. Samuel L Jackson, who has been blunt about his support, and Chris Rock are calling into black radio stations, and Maggie Gyllenhaal will be out supporting Obama as she has before this year. Her brother Jake Gyllenhaal, who was the victim of a fake Twitter account last month that had the liberal actor endorsing Romney, is making his Obama 2012 debut today.
Bruce Springsteen just opened for the President at a Wisconsin rally this morning. Other musicians out for Obama today include Jay-Z, who co-hosted a NYC fundraiser for Obama with wife Beyoncé last month; Katy Perry; John Legend; and Ice Cube. Here’s the full list of Obama surrogates:

I know most celebrity’s are not the brightest bulbs, but they are their reps have go to know being so vocal for 1 candidate 50% of the population despise, can’t be good for their career. Support who you want, but if you’re a public figure who relies on the majority of the population to watch your show or pay to see your movie, keep you big mouth shut and don’t alienate 1/2 the population. Especially the one’s who flat out disrespect supporters of their rival. #Foolish !!!
I just cancelled the series Mob Doctor because the actor was on tv this morning wearing an Obama T shirt. Another show I have cancelled. Plenty of people around me refuse to go to see a George Clooney movie or anyone in Hollywood who is supporting someone whose only goal is to bring the country down. Big mistake going out there touting any candidate.
“anyone in Hollywood who is supporting someone whose only goal is to bring the country down.”
Yep, Obama wakes up in the morning and says, “How am I going to achieve my singular goal of ‘bringing the country down’ today?” That make so much sense, Rose. You’re a very savvy policito.
I disagree with everything Romney stands for, but I would never make the claim that he would intentionally destroy the country. And he’s a guy who literally got rich destroying things.
But good for you for boycotting shows you like because one actor on the show disagrees with you politically. I have bad news for you though, you’re going to have to boycott every show on TV if that’s the case.
Please shut up, Heather and Rose.
Ditto.
Thanks for reading my mind Chuck.
I know, seriously! Jeff Foxworthy needs to shut up right now!
Just like an RNC supporter to set up a fake twitter feed for actor Jake Gyllenhaal… because if there’s one celebrity I think millions upon millions of men and women love and adore, it’s Jake Gyllenhaal, the star of Brokeback Mountain.
Well that was a helpful list of unintelligent people. Thanks Deadline!
At least…this will all end late tomorrow. This election has felt like watching ‘the worst movie ever’ …forever.
@thank you And Kid Rock and Meat Loaf are Rhodes Scholars?
Exactly. The list of sub-C List losers that shore up to Republican causes is pathetic.
If you ever wanted to rub elbows with celebs, today is a good day to be volunteering at a phone bank.
Or 47 percent.
As an outsider I’m both amused by and astonished by the american elections. Amused because even though I have nothing to lose or gain from the result, time after time I’m still unable to look away. It’s a bit of a freakshow. I’m also astonished, because I can not for the life of me understand how americans keep their sanity with all this electioneering and ads. In England, the great tower of democracy they campaign for ONE month and still produce and vibrant democracy. Is it realy important for americans to use 2+ years to gear up for 1 single day, and then have all the media and politicians label that day as the single most important one of “our lives” ? I’m almost 100 % sure I heard that said about the last election too. Go figure. No matter, good luck.
A veritable who’s who of, who are most of those people? No one should care on either side of the political spectrum. Educate yourself or don’t vote. Don’t be ignorant. Know about all the candidates and ballot initiatives.
Obama has a list of stars. Romney has 3 hasbeen old white singers.
Very Cool RW Star Power. You have to vote for Obama, how could the other side not pass the Jobs bill, yes the Jobs bill, 1 million jobs new infrastructure and infrastructure Bank just because they didn’t want O to get a 2nd term. The Republicans were not thinking about us. Next time your car is in the shop for Tires,Shocks or Struts think about it. Plus the additional manufacturing jobs this bill would have created. Not smart Willard as the Rev Al says.
