The producer of the anti-Islam film The Innocence Of Muslims has been sentenced to a year in federal prison for probation violations. Mark Basseley Youssef, aka Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, admitted in a hearing in Los Angeles today to four allegations of using fake identities. Judge Christina Snyder also ruled that Youssef must submit to four years of supervised release after he gets out of jail. In exchange for his guilty plea, four other violation allegations were dropped by federal authorities. Youssef was arrested September 27 on eight counts of probation violations and has been in custody ever since. His last hearing on the matter was on October 10, when a November 9 hearing was set. That hearing, now abandoned, was to have the U.S. Attorney prove that Youssef broke terms of his probation on a 2009 bank fraud conviction by making and uploading The Innocence Of Muslims’ 14-minute trailer onto YouTube. That action set off a chain of violent and deadly protests in the Muslim world in September. The allegations related to the film were not a part of the violations that lead to today’s sentencing.

Actually it didn’t set off those protests. That was a ruse. They were pre-planned and executed by extremists on the anniversary of 9/11. The video was merely an excuse.
Yes, Benghazi was unrelated, but remember their were other riots (those people really don’t need an excuse to riot)because of the video. I thought it was drummed up as the video was several months old.
Strange how they suddenly became interested in his parole violations when this administration did, hmmmm?
Yes, I am an expat in the Middle East and can attest to the fact that the film, indeed, made waves throughout the region. Many local imams called for protest against the US and its allowance of such materials to be produced. What needs to be understood is that free speech is a foreign concept here. The only messages that are broadcast are those that the government approves. Given that thinking, the US must have approved Nakoula’s message. It makes perfect sense in context.
Dear “expat” the video had less than 20 views!!!! So how did that spark the planned attack?
Now if they could only deport him to the Middle East…
“Now if they could only deport him to the Middle East…”
Is that before or after we pack off Matt Stone and Trey Parker to Salt Lake City?
I’m so confused here. Are you saying there’s something wrong with a bunch of people getting together and trying to kill Americans overseas, because they disagree with a MOVIE? I mean, I saw “Flight” last night, and the first thing I wanted to do when I left the theatre was go kill a bunch of pilots!! (Extreme sarcasm).
I can’t wait for the “leaders” of this country to actually stick up for our right to free speech, even if it pisses off some “radicals”. Where are their balls?
Guilty of failure to work out as a scapegoat.
Were you involved with said planning? That’s really the only way you could know. What about all the riots after the dutch cartoon a few years back? Was that just used as an excuse as well? I’m not saying you are wrong but you turned an opinion into a fact which is all to common these days.
There are people (in this case religions) out there that just dont understand the meaning of PEACE!!!!!!! I cant beleive that they killed more than 75 people includeing an american ambasador. I heard that the muslims where very special about there religion and i think we can accept that, but killing inocent people? I think that we are way to advanced in our world to just kill and attack inocent people because you are angry. I think that if this escalates the governments should impose laws that made religion more mance not a menace. This is why im Christian:)
