EXCLUSIVE: British actor James D’Arcy (Master And Commander) is set as the male lead opposite Chloë Sevigny in A&E’s drama pilot Those Who Kill. The project, an adaptation of a Danish format, revolves around police detective Catherine Jensen (Sevigny) and forensic profiler Thomas Schaffer (D’Arcy) who possess a deep understanding of the serial killers they hunt. Thomas is described as a handsome and intellectual college psychology teacher with a PhD who focuses on serial killer behavior. Joe Carnahan is directing Those Who Kill from a script by Glen Morgan. Imagine Television and Fox 21 produce, with Morgan, Carnahan, Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo, Peter Bose and Jonas Allen executive producing. D’Arcy, repped by CAA, UK’s Markham Froggatt & Irwin, and Management 360, is currently seen in Cloud Atlas and Hitchcock, in which he plays Anthony Perkins.

Great and underrated actor.
With Chloe and Darcy this becomes incredibly compelling. Can’t wait to see what Carnahan does. Great team.
Agreed. Unfortunately, Joe Carnahan is directing.
Stick it in your ear dumbo. What have you directed?
Carnahan is AWESOME! To bad YOU can’t see that fool!
AGAIN, Fortunately Joe Carnahan IS directing.
A CBS/network-type procedural. Yay for cable pushing creative boundaries!
The wonderful irony that will be missed by people is that the Danish version of the show was an attempt to make a Danish version of an American forensics procedural. Now the Danish imitation of an American forensics procedural is being re-made into an American forensics procedural. A snake eating its own tail.
More Tears–you’re clueless. Just like The Killing as a take on Murder One, the ABC serialized procedural. Those Who Kill was a format everyone wanted, that was the most popular show of its type. Universally praised. Hard to get into the mind of a creative person I guess.
Nope, you are the one who is clueless if you think you have refuted anything I said above. And the Danish Those Who Kill was a flop in Denmark, and a flop when it aired in Great Britain, where it was universally derided after other Danish dramas had been warmly embraced. As for it being “a format everyone wanted” — I made no comment on that, but I am not surprised, because the American TV industry loves these cookie-cutter “murder of the week” procedurals. CBS, as I allude to above, airs about 12 of them.
Has More Tears read the script? I doubt all this talent would sign onto a “cookie cutter murder of the week procedural”. Great cast. Great director. Morgan probably wrote a great script.
“I doubt all this talent would sign onto a ‘cookie cutter murder of the week procedural’.”
As much as I adore Chloe Sevigny, I wouldn’t doubt for a minute . . . . (Just look at all the other cookie cutter procedurals that boast “all this talent”.
I watched the subtitled Danish version and greatly enjoyed it. Was surprised to hear it was cancelled. In fact they came back and made a finale after cancellation. Seems there is lack of judgement at the networks worldwide. Crappy reality shows everywhere.
