EXCLUSIVE: Lifetime is turning another infamous real-life crime story into a TV movie with Romeo Killer: The Chris Porco Story. Matt Barr, Eric McCormack and Lolita Davidovich star in the project, inspired by the true story of Christopher Porco, who was convicted of killing his father and
attempting to murder his mother. Written by Edithe Swensen and to be directed by Norma Bailey, Romeo Killer centers on beloved, handsome college student Chris Porco (Barr), who was every girl’s dream in the small town of Delmar, NY. Porco was accused of brutally murdering his father and disfiguring his mother, Joan (Davidovich), in a savage ax attack, a claim made all the more shocking when a local police detective (McCormack) believed the mother identified Chris as her attacker. Also cast in the movie is Emily Bett Rickards (Arrow), who plays Lauren Phillps, a young love interest of the accused killer who had maintained his innocence. The film is executive produced by Steve Solomos, Harvey Kahn, Michael Jaffe of Michael Jaffe Films and Ilene Kahn Power of Kahn-Powers Pictures.
This marks Perception star McCormack’s return to Lifetime where he toplined another ripped-from-the headlines movie, Who Is Clark Rockefeller? It also brings Barr back to A+E Networks after his breakout role in the blockbuster History miniseries Hatfields & McCoys. Porco’s story has been extensively covered on TV, including a one-hour documentary on CBS’ 48 Hours Mystery and an episode of the truTV’s Forensic Files. Additionally, a 2009 episode of CBS’ CSI titled “Bloodsport” featured an attack similar to the one Porco was convicted of.

More of the same Lifetime Dreck…
Always glorifying white criminals. Gotta love Lifetime.
GTFO of here with that crap
“Romeo” killer? Really?
Not quite the way the whole thing played locally.
I went to school with Porco, and he was NOT “every girl’s dream”. What a load of crap.
Yea I knew him too….BIG exaggeration
I second that..
Agreed!! I also knew him in high school. Where did they get that from?
One of the magazine shows already did a story on this it was enough. This is not something to be celebrated it was a tragedy for a family and an entire community. What is wrong with Lifetime TV executives?
The Porco’s lived around the corner from my family, after living through this and knowing what a wonderful man his father was and how broken his mother is, this bothers me…
Being a girl who grew up in the “small town of Delmar, NY” I can guarantee that this loser was neither beloved nor considered handsome, and he certainly wasn’t every girl’s dream. Seems to me all this movie is doing is inflating his already immense ego. Why not focus on all the good his parents did for the area rather than romanticize a sociopathic murderer?
Sarah, I could not agree with you more. I also went to school with him and he was in my youth group (what a joke). Porco was an annoying ugly prick. And his lover Lauren Phillips (aka Kelly Rider) is just as crazy as him.
Delmar is a hamlet. It is the Town of Bethlehem. And seriously another show about this sociopath …….
I knew Chris Porco in high school and he was not any girls dream…just a psychopath nerd
Romeo? He was not. I grew up in the “small town of Delmar, NY” and the guy was a clown.
I’m with you guys. These producers are also sociopaths.
exactly – the only things i remembered about him were that he played soccer & back in middle school he got into a fight with one of my friends – and subsequently got his face smashed on a water fountain… Porco wasn’t popular as far as I remember
Just disgusting! Why give the phyco’s ego a boost. I’ve lived in Bethlehem my whole life, this event is nothing to celebrate by immortalizing this ugly event!
I went to high school with this kid… this is so absurd lol. I wasn’t close enough to him to know whether or not he really did it or anything but…
this is very sad…… feel bad for the family
I live in Delmar and I am sure this movie will be filled with phony made up garbage to fill in for the non existent life Porco led and lives today. He is nothing but a lying ax murderer. A family was destroyed by this sick bastard. He had a great father, a wonder mother and brother. Not enough I guess. Now Mrs. Porco will have to live through this whole thing again. Porco is still haunting us from his jail cell and loving it.
I went to U of R with him and I agree with you Sarah. From the brief description of how he will be portrayed in the movie I believe they’ve got it all wrong. He is a convicted murderer and he lied throughout the investigation. I sincerely hope this movie does not bring him public sympathy because the monster doesn’t deserve any.
KR was not his gf at the time of this, a good friend of mine was. So inappropriate to name and call out young women not at all involved with this horrible and devastating situation.
I taught religion with Chris and went to school with him. The fact that lifetime is glamorizing this ugly, sick and devastating tragedy is disturbing. He is a sociopath whose own brother testified against. He doesn’t deserve anyone’s time or energy.
They have to portray his loser self as a ladies man, because honestly the truth just wouldn’t be juicy enough for Lifetime. The people that live in the area know the truth about him, it’s just unfortunate that others who don’t know what a freak he is will see this fabricated, ego-inflating take on him.
Leah you left after 11th grade. Sure he was crazy but you never knew him
You probably didnt either. You obviously know more about Leah and when she left Bethlehem. Get a life.
I knew Peter Porco through my work. What happened to him should NOT be romanticized into a TV movie. it was a horrible, tragic event and those left behind should not have to be witness to a pathetic attempt for ratings.
What I find interesting is the fact that all of you feel so compelled to give a shout out to how you knew this guy. “I knew him this well! I sat next to him in this class!” Aren’t you glorifying him yourselves then? Stop making him a celebrity! You are just drawing more attention to the whole matter which is exactly what the production company wants.
Wait…someone is actually dating him? Now? Yikes.
This is such BS. 1. he was not a heartthrob 2. There was no love interest 3. this was just a terrible tragedy that does not need to be relived…Way to go lifetime bringing up painful stories from the past and throwing in as much false crap as you possibly can.
