Few in Hollywood pull out of Barbara Walter’s interviews, especially when they have an upcoming project. But Lindsay Lohan’s new PR representatives Rogers & Cowan confirmed tonight that the actress will not be appearing on ABC’s 20/20. Lohan was scheduled to be on the show November 16 for an interview with Walters. A source tells Deadline that Lohan’s new flackery was dissatisfied with the direction ABC wanted to take the interview. The 20/20 stint was to promote Lohan’s upcoming Lifetime movie Liz & Dick in which she portrays Elizabeth Taylor and her stormy romance to two-time husband and co-star Richard Burton, played by Grant Bowler. Liz & Dick premieres November 25th. Meanwhile, what a Herculean task it must be to flack Lindsay Lohan.

Better buy some tall boots Rogers and Cowan for all the crap coming your way.
how is she gonna pay her chateau bill and these new publicists now?!
Shocker.
I wonder what the thinking was behind R&C’s decision here. You’d think 20/20 would be really good exposure for Lohan at this point, even if Walters likely pushed it into apology-tour territory for the actress (‘I’ve put mmy old life behind me blah blah blah’). I am not second-guessing the decision of Rogers & Cowan (a firm I respect), but am just curious as to what was behind their decision – if anyone has any insight on this, do please share! Is their strategy to move beyond (rather than attempt to further address) all the old scandal and decrepitude, and basically change the conversation, recasting Lohan in a new angle? What is their strategy, exactly?
my guess… they’re using the diss of Walters to build up a new interview, doesn’t matter who with. Any interview she does will be the same… but this way “this is the interview she choose over the legendary Barbara Walters. Don’t want to miss that” Yawn.
I don’t know, but LiLo doesn’t need any more exposure, but her new project DOES.
I can see the logic behind this move if it became clear that Wawa was going to talke about her parents, the little sister (remember her?), the arrests, the jail time, that DJ guy she used to go out with, each car wreck, etc. and THEN spend a whopping ten seconds on the wrap-up question of, “So how does someone with your background think she can pull off playing Liz Taylor?”
It just wouldn’t be worth the prep time.
I grant you, it would have been better if they had never agreed to it in the first place, but there you go.
They probably took the position that nothing good can come of this, the previous team shouldn’t have agreed to it but that they can step in and be the bad guy without much consequence (we’re new, we’d never have agreed to this, we’re cleaning up someone else’s mistake, etc.).
Wow she must holding out for her OSCAR NOD in Inappropriate Comedy by Shammy King- Vince Offer! Or has she cinched her RAZZIE?
exactly! I’m confused. wouldn’t you think that that interview, to promote that project would be exactly what they want and, frankly, need? it’s like slapping the hand that holds the gift, right?
Oh no. And i was ready to sit and watch her denying again. What a bummer.
Lindsay Lohan must saw the writing on the wall. Barbara Walter would have ask question that her team didn’t wanted her answer. She better pray and hope that her lifetime movie will be a winner. No studios in their right minds wanted to deal with actor/actress who got so many problem.
Times must be tough at Rogers and Cowan when they picked up Lohan. Who will be their next client? Courtney Love? Tara Reid?
Wow; LL actually makes a smart decision! Pushed by her new PR people, of course, but still, the right move.
What could she possible accomplish by talking to Walters? She talked to Matt Lauer before her last SNL stint, told him her partying days were over and she’s straightened herself out, and was obviously full of shit. She going to say the same things to Barbara? Dish dirt on her wacky parents? Talk about her next trip to court?
At this point, until she actually does clean herself up, there’s no point in talking to the media.
Not enough time to media train? Or are they telling her to not do any interviews at all?
Lindsay Lohan doesn’t need the exposure of a sit down interview with 20/20 or Barbara Walters. Her Lifetime movie is going to be HUGE regardless of any interviews she may or may not do. This time around let her work be the focus instead of personal life.
Um Huge Jared? Its Lifetime, not HBO…. Its will be cheese and histrionic melodrama. The trailer looks camp as hell!
Funny how everyone loves to hate on LILO. Funny thing is its easier to hate then respect someone.
Do you really think the da pressing charges doesn’t want free press. LILO is an instant news magnet, good or bad.
How about everyone critique her acting and leave her personal life to her? After all it’s HER life. No one comments daily on your life, or do they?
Okay, her acting has taken a downward spiral. She’s very overrated in the acting department, as of today and looks tired and worn out in the clips that have been shown from both her Lifetime movie and her soft porn movie. She’s not a kid anymore, she needs to go to some serious acting classes and learn some more skills besides playing a parody of herself all the time.
The only way one can live the public life of a movie/tv star and not have their public life in the news is to lead a boring life or learn how to be incredibly discreet. As long as her life is a perpetual train wreck people are going to want to know about it and only Lilo herself can fix that and it’s pretty silly to ask people to stop reporting on her personal life when there is an entire industry set up to track and report on stars’ actions.
Trauma… drama… Xanax… And car wrecks … Her film career may follow Octomoms… Coming soon … Lindsay’s panties in the opening credits of InApproriate Comedy… ” White Trashy but LESS Classey”!! March 2013! Yuck!
