Steven Sinofsky, the president of Microsoft’s Windows and Windows Live operations, is leaving the company, according to media reports. The announcement comes just days after Microsoft launched Windows 8. Sinofsky will be succeeded by Julie Larson-Green, who will head the Windows hardware and software division, Reuters reports. Tami Reller will take over responsibility for the Windows business, while retaining her posts as CFO and chief marketing officer. Both Larson-Green and Reller will report directly to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

wait did windows 8 flop?
Perhaps the wrong Steve stepped down? Steve Ballmer needs to go.
It feels to me like either Windows 8 or Surface isn’t performing quite up to expectations, and someone had to take the fall (because you know that Steve Ballmer isn’t).
That’s entirely supposition on my part, but it seems way too coincidental that Sinofsky steps down just when Windows 8 and Surface make their appearance.
How bad do things need to get at Microsoft before that bozo Ballmer finally gets the boot? He keeps failing over and over, while spouting delusional, arguably criminally misleading guidance to shareholders.
Ballmer finds a fall guy to take the hit for his poor leadership. Rocky times ahead for MS.
Whatever happened to Windows 7? Did anyone buy into it?
Our company is still using XP!
