On the heels of FX renewing its comedy Wilfred for a third season, Wilfred producer FX Prods has inked an overall deal with the series’ executive producer/director Randall Einhorn. The pact locks in a key player on the show following the recent departure of executive producer/showrunner David Zuckerman. (Writer-producers Reed Agnew and Eli Jorné are taking the reins of the comedy in Season 3.
In addition to his services on Wilfred, Einhorn will develop, executive produce and direct projects for FX. “Randall has been a major player in the world of FX comedies, first on Sunny and now on Wilfred,” said FX/FX Prods’ Eric Schrier. “He has great sensibilities and we look forward to him developing new projects for FX. He is also one of the most highly regarded comedy directors in television and we’re thrilled that those services were included in this deal.”
Einhorn, who started off as “The Documentarian” on NBC’s The Office, has directed Parks And Recreation, Modern Family, Shameless and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. He is currently in New York as the Co-exec producer/director on Nurse Jackie. Einhorn, repped by WME, Odenkirk Provissiero and attorney Michael Schenkman, recently segued into film and is attached to direct Late Bloomer for Dignity Film, and the end-of -the-world comedy Doomsday.
