Miley Cyrus may become one of the most sought-after comedy actresses this coming pilot season after delivering another set of big ratings for CBS’ Two And A Half Men. With Cyrus back, the veteran sitcom (4.0/11) was up 11% from last week to match its season high posted by Cyrus’ first episode on the show last month. Men‘s lead-in The Big Bang Theory (5.0/15) was down a tenth from last week while matching an all-time high in total viewers (16.54 million). Person Of Interest (2.9/7) was flat in 18-49 while hitting a season high in total viewers (14.7 million). But Elementary (2.2/6), which just snagged the coveted post-Super Bowl slot, was down 8% from last week to tie its lowest rating to date. CBS won the night in 18-49 and total viewers.
After Nashville inched up in the ratings on Wednesday, another freshman ABC series waiting word on a back order posted ratings gains last nigh: Last Resort (1.4/4) was up 8% from two weeks ago. (ABC’s Thursday lineup was pre-empted for the CMAs last week.) Both series had been rumored to receive episodic orders, and the ratings upticks may have validated that. Grey’s Anatomy (3.2/8) also was up, by 7%, while Scandal (2.0/5) was flat.
Fox’s The X Factor (2.3/6) matched last week’s series low for a regularly scheduled episode. Glee (2.4/6) was down 8% in its return from a five-week hiatus (In 18-34, it was up 4%) but built onto its X Factor lead-in for the first time in Live+Same Day.
X Factor once again faced NBC’s The Voice (3.0/9) which is starting to show signs of overexposure. The extra Thursday edition of the singing competition was down 21% from the Wednesday show. It is currently tied as its lowest-rated telecast ever, and that is with possible fast nationals ratings inflation due to local NFL pre-emptions. The Voice still comfortably won over X Factor in the 8 PM hour among 18-49, while X Factor was tops in adults 18-34 (2.3 vs. 2.2) and teens (2.2 vs. 1.4). With The Voice as a lead-in, The Office (2.5/7) was up 32% from two weeks ago for a season high. Parks And Recreation (1.8/5) was up 6%, while Rock Center With Brian Williams (1.1/3) was down 15% from last week when newsmagazine ratings were boosted by Sandy coverage.
On the CW, The Vampire Diaries (1.4/4) was down a tenth from last week. Beauty And The Beast (0.7/2) was up a tenth.

There was a time not too long ago that any show that fell below a 2.0 was dropped like a hot potato. The Networks are trying desperately to cover up the truth that fewer people are watching their drivel. Instead of gilding the Lily why not put all that effort and energy into creating a better product?
Yet Last Resort is a better product, and it’s failing too.
Because ABC keeps trying to reclaim that Thursday night death slot, throwing show after show at it, all with the same result. The competition is just to stiff, and they need to concede that and just put on some garbage rerun or serious counter programming, and move Last Resort to a time slot where it might actually pick up some viewers.
Because quality means nothing… Compare the states of Community and Two and a Half Men. Last Resort stands as the best new show this year, yet it has huge ratings problems. Quality is meaningless. All that matters is marketing.
HEY Simon U.S. X Factor SUCKS ! bring back Cheryl to the show, she was great as a judge. Simon that was one BIG MISTAKE firing Cheryl from the show.
Yep I’m sure Simon really regrets firing Cheryl. She’s such a big star in the US. Obviously much more well known than Britney and Demi… I’m sure she would have rocked the ratings!
I’ll admit that Miley Cyrus has been really good on 2.5 Men. Maybe they can get her fulltime next season? Her character is hilarious.
I gotta admit: Cyrus was actually very likeable on Two and a Half Men.
I’m interested in Elementary and want it picked up.Glad to see Parks and Rec doing well.
I haven’t watched 2.5 Men in AGES, so much so, I didn’t know who the “NEW CHARACTER” aka, .5, was that had joined the Army. Wow! He grew up!!
Loved MILEY C. She was funny.
ELEMENTARY IS A GREAT SHOW! I really think Lucy Liu makes this show and kinda give him his “comeuppance” by the end of the hour. Quite frankly, there are too many “murder” shows on CBS and I think it takes ratings away from this one.
Johnny Lee Miller is annoying. that is the problem. he’s just doing an hyper version of Patrick Jane who is quietly intense and plays it with a wry grin.
Personally AND according to so many of my friends, people I know, we’re ALL looking for something “funny” to watch. AND NOT reality. That’s boring after awhile. All the arguing.
We were actually talking about this the other night and we said we actually turn on the tv looking for something to laugh about/with and end up having to “settle for something not really that funny.” I do like 2.5 men, little racy, but it’s funny.
If it wasn’t for Lucy Liu there would be no reason to watch Elementary. The male “star” is annoying, difficult to watch and could be played by anyone with an English accent. As for Sherlock Holmes, the BBC update is so superior in every way that it makes Elementary look like it was written by a kindergarten round table.
Wow, what a big night for CBS in total viewers and demo up until 10pm when the bottom dropped out. Grey’s Anatomy remains ABC’s oasis. They desperately need a good CBS style procedural or two to help out Greys instead of all the soaps and serials. Then again they have a knack for screwing up their best procedurals. And FOX is just hurting bad with the paltry numbers of x-factor and Glee.
So when does Chuck Lorre give us the “Jake-Harper-in-The-Army” Spin-off from TWO & A HALF MEN.
Angus T. Jones is the luckiest “kid” in Hollywood – $300,000 an episode and some shows he’s in ONE SCENE!
Miley Cyrus ruined two and half men that show has gotten worse! Only reason ratings were boosted was because of the pop tarts watching. Bring back Charlie Sheen, Kutcher is getting worse by the day….
AW, sorry you feel that way, Chad. Miley totally rocked the show. Sit back and enjoy the ride sweety.
