Producers of new CBS comedy series Partners probably wish the network made a back order decision on their show last week when the freshman sitcom was the only Monday CBS series to post ratings gains vs. its most recent airing. Because last night, Partners (1.8/5) was the only member of the CBS Monday lineup in negative territory — down 14% from last week for a series low. In comparison, How I Met Your Mother (3.0/8) and Mike & Molly (3.0/7) were each up 7%, while 2 Broke Girls (3.2/8) and Hawaii Five-0 (2.0/5) were flat.
NBC extended its Monday winning streak among adults 18-49 to 10 consecutive weeks. The network topped every half-hour of primetime last night in the demo, and The Voice once again ranked as the No. 1 program of the night. But both NBC series were down week-to-week, extending a downward trend over the last couple of weeks. Night 1 of semifinals for Voice (4.3/11) was down 4% from last week, while heavily DVR-ed Revolution (2.6/7) was down 7% to a series low in Live+Same Day. On the bright side, The Voice has now moved ahead of last spring’s cycle, which had a big Super Bowl-fueled start. The last two editions of the singing competition were up from the corresponding episodes last season.
Fox’s Bones (1.9/5) and Mob Doctor (0.9/2) were both down a tenth from last week. Fast nationals for ABC may be inflated because of NFL pre-emptions in Pittsburgh and Kansas City. With that in mind, Dancing With The Stars (2.2/5) was up 5% from last week, while Castle (2.1/5) was up 11%. ABC won the night in total viewers.
In a domino effect from the NFL coverage by the ABC station in Kansas City, the CW station in the market carried Dancing With The Stars last night, leading to a likely rating inflation for the network’s Monday lineup of 90210 (1.24 million, 0.8/2 in 18-34, 0.6/2 in 18-49) and Gossip Girl (808,000, 0.4/1 in 18-49). 90210 is currently posting season highs in total viewers and 18-34, up 40% in 18-34 and 50% in 18-49 from last week, and while its ratings may be adjusted down in the finals, the network projects that 90210‘s season-high mark will hold. Gossip Girl is up 22% in total viewers and 33% in 18-49.

Partners is not that bad, no great, but ok. In another network it may have had a better chance with those numbers,
NBC is the new winner on Monday, The Voice is really entertaining and Revolution is very well written and acted. Even my teen boys that usually hate TV, love the show.
I am not sure CBS will get Mondays back unless they fix the 2 weak spots they have, Partners and Hawaii Five O. They should had no renewed Hawaii 2 years ago when the show failed to get the numbers CSI Miami was getting in the same slot. The show was trending down since the start, it should had been canceled and now CBS Mondays are paying the price. We dumped the show in the middle of first season, plots were silly and the main actor is boring. Funny that we always watched CSI Miami. Now we watch NBC.
How I Met Your Mother was great last night. Was worried for a bit there, but it looks like it’s on track again.
90210 tricked me to think Teddy was in last nights episode. Boooo!
Sorry to see The Mob Doctor is still doing poorly. It’s really a good show but the timeslot is a killer. Also continuing to enjoy Hawaii Five-0.
CBS used to be a must watch for us. But now the only shows we enjoy are HIMYM and 2BG, so why bother watching live. I dvr them and watch NBC live.
I read CBS has plans for a new NCIS.Hope it works because the remake of Hawaii 50 is awful,I don’t even dvr it anymore. So I hope CBS this time makes sure the new NCIS cast is strong. A show needs a cast able to connect with the viewers.
I’m surprised Partners is still on. Then again, NBC only cancels good shows.
Partners is on CBS. At least get the networks right before you bitch.
As agreed, Jeremy, you’ll be exempt from our planned Obama re-election protest layoffs.
Somebody call the priest asap to administer last rites to Partners.
“Partners” is fake, lifeless, and not very funny. It all feels so forced. I feel bad for the actors. They are faced with an impossible task, and, unfortunately, all of them will come out of this the worse for wear. Usually in an ensemble like this, at least one of the actors breaks out as the star, the one that resonates with the masses. Nobody shines here. What happened to the “Will & Grace” magic?
Different casting directer.
No magic.
You may be right. “Will & Grace” had an amazing cast. Every one of the leads won Emmy’s for Best Actor/Actress. As if that weren’t enough, there were superb guest star performances by the likes of Kevin Bacon, Michael Douglas, Alec Baldwin (before most people knew he was funny!), Matt Damon, Harry Connick, Jr. (who knew he could act?), Woody Harrelson, Cher, Madonna… oh my god, the list goes on and on… I think quite a few of the guest stars won Emmy’s, too. The writing was original and clever and the casting could not have been better. I MISS THIS SHOW!!!
I think Partners is getting better and better. I didn’t love the pilot, but the one with Derek Jeter totally hooked me and I’ve been a fan ever since. Michael Urie is a GENIUS and they found a way to make Brandon Routh funny. I think it is by FAR the best-written show on CBS. I’m hoping that CBS gives this show a chance. I think a 9:30 move would help it.
CBS Mondays look awful. And all is their fault.
They should start looking for fresh new ideas instead of trying to copy old stuff.
Partners is nothing but a lame reboot of Will&Grace, but without the wonderful cast the original had.
.And Hawaii 50 is a crappy remake of a popular old show that should had never been remade, Jack Lord was the Man, in the remake the only thing the actor does is to take his shirt off to show us his abs,.
Partners is a diluted rehash of everything Mutchnick and Kohan have done already on Will and Grace.
Mutchnick is in total rehash mode and the network thinks they can catch lightening in a bottle twice.
Not gonna happen here…CBS should cut it’s losses and let Mutchnick head over to Logo.
EXACTLY CORRECT!
Nobody at the studio or network gets it.
Everybody who actually works on the shows has seen it for years.
Partners and Mob Doctor should be finished soon and heading to the cancellation bin.
