Last Night’s Saturday Night Live with host Jeremy Renner and musical guest Maroon 5 averaged a 5.1/12 in metered-market households, up a tenth from last week’s show hosted by Anne Hathaway and second highest-rated of the season behind the October 20 edition hosted by Bruno Mars (5.4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, last night’s SNL averaged a 2.7/12 in adults 18-49, also up a tenth from last week.
During last night’s telecast, SNL announced Django Unchained star Jamie Foxx as host on December 8 with musical guest Ne-Yo. Foxx has only been on the show once before, in 2000 when he was still known mostly as a TV star from In Living Color and The Jamie Foxx Show. During the 12 years he stayed away from SNL (there is speculation that he may have been banned), he became a movie star and won an Oscar.

Why was Jamie banned? Martin Lawrences was banned from SNL.
Renner’s great period. As are all the performers who play “The Avengers” actually. Unusually appealing ensemble that the S.A.G. Awards will probably ignore as a group because it’s a superhero movie. Would love to see Russell Crowe host S.N.L. I think he would be great what with lots about him to have fun with and parody. If “Les Mis” sticks around maybe after Jamie Foxx. Couldn’t hurt the movie, wouldn’t hurt the performer.
Renner was horrid on SNL.
Jeremy Renner was lame. No comedy chops. His a one note actor.
Dude can sing! Too bad dude can’t save the writers from themselves. Show was embarrassing but yes I’ll be back next week. So far Bruno Mars gas shown more chops than any other host this season.
Stale Dale in Palmdale, Bruno Mars brought energy to SNL, but he relied heavily on his singing persona ( no challenge) . Now, Anne Hathaway & Joseph Gordon Levitt are my favorites, because they are natural performers that portrayed different characters- without having their eyes glued to the cue cards.
Love both of em’ but I do think these were their weakest episodes yet…
I felt like Bruno’s show had energy. Gordon Levitt and Anne were dying on the vine — not their fault of course.
And what do you think Hathaway and Gordon rely on — their acting chops, right?
How is it any different for Bruno Mars?
If anything, he showed they had no range.
Foxx was on SNL in 2000 to promote “Any Given Sunday.” To confuse him with Martin Lawrence is embarrassing.
SNL’s Renner show was average at best. Not his fault, though. Jeremy really gave it his all, even opening up with a medley of songs he claimed he wrote (well known songs with different lyrics).
The writing for this last show generally fell flat. One bright spot was the appearance of the real Gov. Chris Christie. The guy’s got some timing and comedy chops – who knew? Maybe he can fill the void left by Giuliani as a political host.
