Resident Evil actress Sienna Guillory will romance Idris Elba‘s troubled English police detective Luther in the drama series’ upcoming third season. The BBC and BBC America co-production is readying a new run of four hourlong episodes that began filming last week. Per the BBC, this season puts John Luther back under intense pressure, with two conflicting crimes to investigate and a ruthless ex-cop determined to bring him down. Guillory will play Mary, a worker in a vintage clothing shop who meets Luther by chance.
Returning cast members include Warren Brown, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Dermot Crowley and Michael Smiley. Guest stars this season will include Lucian Msamati (Game Of Thrones) and Ned Dennehy (Tyrannosaur). Luther was created by Neil Cross, who’s also behind the upcoming NBC pirate series Crossbones. Season 3 of Luther will air on BBC One in 2013; there’s no date yet for BBC America. Guillory is repped by Independent Talent and UTA and managed by Inspire Entertainment.

Ah yeah! One of the best shows I’ve seen with one of the best actors around. Glad this show is coming back. I thought with Idris taking big budget roles that the show might not return. Guillory is great and will be a welcome addition to the show.
Sexy hair. Sexy clothes. She’s a foxy minx!
What?? No Ruth Wilson!
I think she’s unavailable because she’s currently based in America.
This is a great, great show but I’m pretty sure there are black female lead actresses in the UK. Even the good, light-skinned, straight haired kind of black woman you lot seem to favor. It’s okay to put more than one black person on a show at one time. Really.
What about DI Gray?
I sure hope Ruth Wilson comes back as Alice Morgan!? She and Alba had great on screen chemistry.
This is a good show – great acting!
So happy to hear this brilliant actor will reprise one of the best roles on tv ever. I don’t care who he romances but am happy to volunteer …
