Syfy has added a trio of new reality programming to its line-up for next year. It was announced today that Ghost Mine, Stranded and Notorious Hauntings would premiere on the network in early 2013. “Each of these series takes a known and successful formula and turns it on its head,” said Mark Stern, President, Original Content for Syfy and Co-head, Original Content for Universal Cable Productions. Premiering on January 16, Ghost Mine goes deep into a rumored haunted Oregon mine in the search for gold. Ghost Mine is produced by Endemol’s 51 Minds, with Mark Cronin David Caplan and Jay Bluemke serving as Executive Producers. Premiering on February 27, the six-episode Stranded follows teams as they handled paranormal events in a haunted location. Stranded is produced by Ping Pong Productions and Blumhouse with Brad Kuhlman, Casey Brumels, Josh Gates and Jason Blum executive producing. Lastly Syfy announced Notorious Hauntings. The show features researchers who investigate reports of extreme and dangerous supernatural activity around the world. Notorious Hauntings, which only has a working title right now, will debut in the spring of 2013. The show is produced by Pilgrim Studios with Craig Piligian and Mike Nichols serving as Executive Producers.

Yeah, ’cause reality is where it’s at. Just make sure there’s a wrestling angle, m’kay? /sarcasm
I’m not normally one to jump on the “Syfy doesn’t do real science fiction any more”, and I’m a fan of Face Off, Hot Set and the new robot one sound fun. But really, three more ghost hunting shows? Come on!
I agree with GadgetDon, I also a fan of Face Off but these shows depicting real supernatural investigations are for the birds. The investigators are just acting with lines such as: Did you hear that, did you see that, listen, then you hear a noise of some kind made by someone in the audio dept. there is never any real evidence of ghost activity…. unless its the fake instruments. I would just watch a good supernatural fiction movie or series instead of the shows claiming this is real.
Are these shows serious? They sound absolutely ridiculous. Of the 3 added the only one I am excited about/is worth watching is Robot Combat League! SyFy really needs to get back to their base. . .
See, “SyFy” still has a hint of “Sci Fi” to it. I think they should just change it to Siffy and be done with it.
For the life of me I don’t understand why SYFY doesn’t spend more of its resources on series that are considered classic Sc-Fi subjects. Now I admit to being a great fan of both Face Off and Hot Set. It’s fascinating to see what goes into making the series we are so addicted to. But how many more ghost hunting shows do we really need? One is OK, the subject is tangential to SCI-FI. But enough is enough. We need new and/or recreated series along the lines of the only new show that SyFy is responsible for and that I am eagerly awaiting- DEFIANCE, I believe is the name. I would also like to know what wrestling has to do with Science Fiction. If there’s a connection then I am too obtuse to see it. SyFy would please and amaze us all if they would put Blood & Chrome into production for the TV viewers. They should be looking at producing new shows like Farscape, Firefly, earth 2, Seaquest, Outland, BSG, Grimm, Falling Skies, Stargate SG-1, and of course, the classics ST, ST:TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise. Fewer monsters, more brains like Alphas, and Eureka, and more SCI-FI mysteries like Haven. And if we could lose the wrestling I would be eternally grateful. I admit that I was spoiled by the Space Channel up north for 10 years. We almost never watched any other channel when we had Space. With SyFy we rarely turn it on except for the few series we actually follow. I’d be only so happy to provide a list of the good shows on SyFy – it’s fairly short. Have you heard any news about Alphas being renewed?
I am LOVING the 3 new shows syfy is airing……..if people would be more open minded they might enjoy them also. Now if they were airing crap like BIO celebirty ghost stories then for sure i wouldnt believe the crap for a second. ;(
I get the previous posters statements some of the Ghost Hunting stuff is kinda lame! However I really am a loyal Ghosthunters fan and am totally hooked on the new show “Ghost Mine” for one I firmly believe in the paranormal and two I’ve done mining in the past and so the two combined drew me in right away!
The show so far has kept it very real and is delving into a new realm of haunting Gold Mines are notorious for being haunted and full of superstitions that are founded on things that actually occur in the mines!! This new show has been at the top of my recording list since day one and I really hope they come back and don’t leave us hanging!!! The beautiful Oregon wilderness makes an awesome backdrop as well I’ve been all up in and around that area alot and it’s natural spiritual environment is inspiring!! Just talk to some of the Native Americans as well as the old timers and there’s no denying there’s an otherworldly atmosphere there…….great premise for a captivating show a big High Five to SyFy on Ghost Mine!!
I will also give Stranded and the other new show a chance maybe if more people did they’d see it’s not all as hokey as they assume it is!! Just my humble opinion…..thanks!
