Turner Classic Movies has pacted with the estate of Johnny Carson to produce Carson On TCM, a showcase of Hollywood interviews from Carson’s three decades as host of The Tonight Show — many of which have not been seen since their original airdates. The deal licenses 50 interviews from the Carson Entertainment Group archives, and the network plans a summer 2013 launch. The list includes more than 20 Oscar winners including Bette Davis, Henry Fonda, William Holden, Gregory Peck, Jimmy Stewart and Elizabeth Taylor. The series will be curated by Peter Jones (Johnny Carson: King of Late Night). Here’s a peek:

Finally.
Johnny was the man. I will be watching every fuckin bit of this. TCM, yo. Look out AMC. You’re about to not be the only cable channel with meaningless initials. Yo.
Johnny is the man!
All these years later, there is still no one better. Brilliant.
Obviously you worked for Carson. Well I work for Jay Leno, who is funnier and better than Carson.
Hah! Oh, my God! Are you serious? Are you *really* going to sit here and tell us that Leno is better than Carson?! I actually don’t have anything against Leno, and if you want to have the Leno/Letterman/Conan/Kimmel discussion that’s another conversation, but you must be smoking some serious crack to even suggest that Leno is better than Carson. Even Leno himself would probably disagree with you. Why don’t you ask him?
Just rerun the whole shows already. Reelz has the Carson Classics skit reruns, but someone needs to run the shows. Carson makes everyone else look like a poser.
Thank you TCM! Can’t wait to watch.
The Carson TCM people need to put the date next to the name of each celeb so we know when each show aired. How dumb are they to omit this? Idiots.
Makes you realize how low we’ve come to Jimmy Kimmel. Oy.
Kudos,that was funny.
About time! I will be watching. Carson still rules!
Johnny Carson this, Johnny Carson that. I’m so sick of it. Jay Leno is the greatest Tonight Show host ever. I’ll take Jaywalking & Jay’s bit with the soda machine over some dumb Art Fern or Carnac routine any day. And Jay is a master at delivering a monologue, real water cooler stuff, whereas nobody much cared what Carson had to say.
Calm down, Jay. The NBC doctor will get your meds.
Water cooler stuff? Seriously? Oh, yeah, every morning the office is atwitter about what Leno said in his monologue. When I was growing up, people were always saying, “Did you see Carson last night?”
If by “nobody” you meant “everyone in America”, I’ll agree completely.
If it’s not a typo, you’re either 25-years-old or phenomenally unaware of the history of the television.
You must be under 30 yrs old. Johnny was the best and will always rule.
Carson lives! O and pay lil attention to Craig Fergerson. He actually makes me laugh.
Too bad the first ten years or so of the show were erased.
Wish they would rerun the entire shows. they were all great. He was what all the others aspire to be.
