This scene, plus the first 4 minutes, were the best parts of the movie. Skip everything else, other then John Goodman’s combined 5 minutes of screen time, and you won’t miss a thing.
NervisRex, please, oh please put the cannibis pipe down. It does not suit you. Here are but a few no-brainer reasons to see “Flight” other than the too-few aforementioned reasons you list:
* Denzel’s performance… Nuff said!
* Gatin’s smart script… It’s on par with the writing of another alcoholic downward spiral flick, “Leaving Las Vegas”
* the touchingly human (and humane) performance of Kelly Reilly
* the beauty/hotness of actress Nadine Velasquez
and, yes, Goodman and the crash special effects, as you point out, are commendable, too. But the overall snarky spirit of your comment, however, short changes an otherwise solid movie.
Maybe your cup of tea is “Transformers” or “Paranormal Activity” … if so, then refrain from spewing idiocy that shows the snake-bellied level of your alleged celluloid intelligence.
Bobby, you are indeed a saint… and correct on all accounts, and might I add a punctuation on the beauty/hotness of Nadine Velasquez! Wow! That girl is a major beauty.
Thank you!!!! For once a movie not based on a comic or a somebody in a rubber suit & NervisRex didn’t understand it!!! Why did he even go?!?!?!?!
I cried uncontrollably after the very last scene. I too have struggled with addiction. I identified with the potential loss of family, career, and self. It is a different, more powerful, film for addicts.
I love this movie. I want it to win Oscars for best actor, best director, best script, best picture. It’s a wonderful smart ambitious film.
I snored during 75 per cent of it, but I admit that Denzel pulled off the near-impossible: even though the character was utterly despicable for most of the movie , the audience roots for him anyway. To me it felt like they were supporting the actor, not the character
This movie is outstanding! Aside from the visual special effects with the plane, the story and actors are so engaging. I didn’t read any reviews and had no idea about the alcoholic story line so I found myself surprised at every stage of the movie — which I loved!! John Goodman is great and brings a much needed light-heartedness to the movie. It’s really solid story-telling and good old fashioned drama. Something we don’t see enough of in Hollywood these days. Other studio heads should take a clue from this movie. Congrats Paramount!! It’s movies like this that remind the audience of why you’ve been around for a 100 years!!! … Go see this movie!!!
Here’s the coolest thing about this interesting behind-the-scenes piece: we didn’t have to listen to the obligatory sound bite(s) from the director or the producer (which would add nothing to the piece). Can you imagine if this was a Jerry Bruckheimer movie and the amount of time he would have been in this piece? So, kudos to the studio for keeping this interesting.
That looks very interesting! I just wish I did not read the comments. I like to be surprised by a story line when I see the movie. Drat. My own fault.
I loved this movie! It was everything I had hoped for (from the previews)and more. I didn’t really realize they would dig into the addiction aspect, but, because I am an active member of Al-Anon,and have dealt with a family of alcoholics for years, I really appreciated this frank, and realistic portrayal of an alcoholic who couldn’t stop lying, breaking promises and thinking he could quit any time. When he (Denzel’s character) was at his most vulnerable (in the hotel room, right before the hearing), I was rooting for him to stay sober. There was a woman behind me who kept yelling “Oh HELL NO!!!”(whenever he was about to drink).Usually, people talking in movie theaters bothers me, but she was a kind of comic relief, and I also felt like she was a kindred spirit; exclaiming out loud what I was saying to myself. Anyway, I think Robert Zemeckis and everyone involved with this production, should be commended for a fantastic job well done! I will definitely tell my friends (And everyone at my Al-Anon meeting) to go see this movie!
I saw the movie without any fore knowledge of what to expect. I have always liked and admired Denzel as an actor, but I went to see the film on a whim.
I sat on the edge of my seat throughout the entire film. It hit home with me….. every bit of it. I absolutely LOVED the movie and applaud the special effects as well as the realistic drama.
It was one of the most heart tugging 140 minutes that I have sat through in a very long time. Please….. go see it!
NervisRex, if you honestly believe that then you probably are an adult who watches cartoons.
