The Daily Show With Jon Stewart correspondent Wyatt Cenac has decided to leave the Comedy Central program, the cable network confirmed. Cenac, who has been on The Daily Show since 2008, will stay on through the remainder of the year, which means three more weeks as the last Daily Show for 2012 tapes on Thursday, December 13. “Jon and the staff wish him the best in his future endeavors,” a rep for Comedy Central said. There are no immediate plans to hire a replacement for Cenac as The Daily Show does not have a set number of correspondents. For instance, the show added two correspondents – Jessica Williams and Al Madrigal – over the past year without anyone departing.TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

He’s the best correspondent they have, and I’m sad to see him go, but I have a feeling his career trajectory will be the same as Steve Carell and Ed Helms’.
Yeah, he was one of the funniest, if not the funniest, of the correspondents. Sad to see him go. Best of luck to Mr. Cenac. Very funny and talented entertainer.
They need to clean house over there. Cenac, Madrigal, Williams and… that person that plays “Hazel” on 30 Rock… all very unfunny. What’s worse, they all act like they THINK they’re funny, but are not.
Agree, that Schaal chick aka Hazel on 30Rock is horrible. Why she gets so many gigs is beyond me.
As to THE DAILY SHOW – I lost all respect for this previously hilarious and previously smart show when a few weeks before election they started to do the exact same things they frequently accuse a certain other show of. I was diappointed and, quite frankly, utterly disgusted to have my intelligence insulted.
Your criticism doesn’t ring true to me, and since you don’t cite any specific bits they did that go against what they normally do. They did some hilariously funny stuff during the conventions that skewered the left for being every bit as mean-spirited and bigoted as the right, and perhaps that rubbed some fans the wrong way. I loved it, though. The show has been on fire this year, and it’s too bad that you’re depriving yourself of some very funny stuff.
I’ll miss Wyatt, but a lot of people have come and go from TDS, and that constant flow of talent has only been good for everyone involved. He’s going to find something that uses his talents more effectively, and The Daily Show will continue to be hilarious. It’s a win-win for viewers.
I agree. I was really sad to hear he’s leaving, I hope it’s on good terms and he finds success elsewhere. He’s very funny and I look forward to seeing more from him and the Daily Show.
Wyatt is just getting going — Daily Show gave him such a fan base, and he’s got the brains and the heart to go the distance. I can’t wait to see what he does next.
Who? I watch DS 2-3 times a week, and I’ve never seen this guy. Is he a writer?
I don’t really have any judgement on her skill, but I can’t believe Samantha Bee is still on that show. It seems like that show catapults most of it’s senior correspondents to stardom, save for the guy from Hot Tub Time Machine. He seems to be having a rough go of things. I suppose some leave because of success, some leave in hopes of success, and some stay for the paycheck.
I enjoy them all at one point or another during the sketches. Still not too fond of the new black chick yet because I don’t find her very funny tho she does the fake interviews pretty well. My 2 cents.
I think she’s getting better, that and, I don’t normally get the jungle fever, but she’s fine. I gots me a crush on her.
Cenac is hilarious, and I hope to see great things from him.
Wyatt cenac the funniest. Puppet
I find the correspondents uneven at best, even John Oliver. They wait too long for laughs that end up sounding forced. A lot of the bits seem to be funnier to the participants than the audience. I get that it’s about stand-ups supporting stand-ups, but sometimes it feels like Stewart is carrying his friends. I won’t much miss Cenac.
There is a difference between being rude and controversial and being witty with TDS bits and pieces. Cenac, Jason Jones, Al Madrigal are funny smart. Sam Bee and John Oliver can be good as well, Jessica Williams is finding her feet and Asif Manvi’s best bits are too few and far between. As long as Jon stays there and gets John Hodgeman and Lewis Black on from time to time this show will remain regular viewing for me….and that’s from Scotland, UK.
