Stephanie Herman has been promoted to VP Casting at 20th Century Fox TV. She reports to EVP Talent and Casting Sharon Klein. “Stephanie’s rise at the studio has been meteoric, and deservedly so,” Klein said. “She is so creative and smart, and she’s unbelievably wise beyond her years.” Herman joined the studio in 2006 directly upon graduating from UC Davis. She started off as as an assistant and rose through the ranks from coordinator to manager to director and now VP. Herman serves as the studio’s primary casting executive on the flagship ABC comedy series Modern Family, and has helped land such guest stars on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother as Katy Perry, Carrie Underwood, John Lithgow, Martin Short, Jennifer Morrison and Becky Newton. Herman also brought Geoff Stults on to HIMYM as a guest star, which led to the studio signing him to a talent deal and ultimately casting him as the lead in the Bones spinoff The Finder. Additionally, she cast Krysten Ritter and Dreama Walker on Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23, and found Dakota Johnson when the Ben And Kate pilot was in limbo after original lead Abby Elliott had to be recast after the table read.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

Great news. I absolutely love dealing with her. She actually locates talent and put them on her shows like it should be done. Happy for her.
Hoov
She’s a class act, and deserves her success. Congrats!
Not to take anything away from Stephanie, but each of those shows had an independent casting director who was working like crazy to think of, introduce, and secure those actors for the studio.
It is very rare that a studio or network casting director has the first creative casting input on a television project.
Let’s try to correct the longstanding false ideas about how the casting system works.
I’m sure she’s great, but that photo looks like an Anime still!
I’m sure it doesn’t hurt that she’s beautiful….just sayin’!
CONGRATULATIONS.
In regards to “Been There” comment’s…that person is 100% correct. Independent casting directors do the real work in the trenches…studio casting does not. And I’m sorry “found” Dakota Johnson? Her parents are actors, she’s had an agent probably before she was 10 at WMA/WME and she just came off two movies one being the Social Network (however if you sneeze you miss her). Oh and way to go networks for your nepotism hiring first Abby Elliot and than Dakota Johnson…glad to see you actually went out and discovered new talent.
I just met Stephanie and I found her well put together, very kind and extremely smart! She is an asset to any company she works for, I am sure. What a breath of fresh air.
