With ABC‘s Tuesday comedy block gone in mid-March, the network has found a temporary home for some of the leftover episodes of the block’s two current series, Happy Endings and Don’t Trust The B—- In Apt. 23. For the first three weeks in January, ABC will air new episodes of the two comedies in the Sunday 10 PM hour while also running originals in the shows’ regular Tuesday 9-10 PM slots. As part of the move, ABC is pulling cancelled freshman drama 666 Park Ave, which was to continue in the Sunday 10 PM time slot until it finishes its 13-episode run. The remaining episodes of the series will now air in the summer. Happy Endings and Apt. 23 will air on Sunday on January 6, 13 and 20. ABC has a Hallmark movie scheduled for the following Sunday, January 27. The network is yet to book February 3, 10 and 17, so conceivably, if the comedies do well there (which is considered a very long shot), the network can keep Happy Endings there. With the January double-pumping, ABC will have four episodes left of the third-year comedy (and none of Apt. 23, which had a 19-episode order). The Academy Awards air on February 24, followed by the premiere of midseason drama Red Widow the following Sunday.

I looked forward to watching 666 Park Ave every Sunday. I was a unique show. I now will switch to CBS and watch the Mentalist. Bad move on ABC’s part.

I completely agree. I love 666 Park Ave. I also love Once Upon A Time and Revenge. 666 just fit in so well after these shows. It reminded me of Twilight Zone, you never knew what to expect. Its scary, yet intriguing. KEEP 666 PARK AVENUE AND GET RID OF THE MONOTONY OF SUNDAY NIGHT.
I completely agree that Sunday had become my favorite night with Once upon a time, Revenge AND 666 Park Ave. It has been the only time in 10yrs that I loved Sunday night (before Monday reality)

I was so disappointed to find out 666 Park Ave. South was cancelled. I was so looking forward to it resuming tonight. It was like the Devil’s advocate in a weekly series. It had suspense and intrigue. Why does everything have to be so dummied down. So now it is back to stupid, predictable sitcoms which I don’t watch. I guess I will keep watching the non-network channels like ID and bio. Very disappointed, especially after the cliff hanger.

WHAT A STUPID MISTAKE!!! To cancel THE BEST NEW show on –This show had it all, excellent script/story line, fabulous acting by beautiful people, great special effects, not too scary or bloody….appealed to all age groups. And you replace it with lame brain crap that NOBODY wants to see. Why not bring back that excellent show instead of trying to promote a bunch of crummy (unfunny) comedy shows with canned laughter that NOBODY wants to see.

I loved 666 Park Avenue! It was my favorite show of the season. I am so tired of all of these reality shows and talent shows. It was a breath of fresh air. So now I guess I’ll just go to bed early!

I could NOT agree more! I am a HUGE fan of OUAT and I loved 666 P Ave! BIG MISTAKE! You took GCB off air because of too many people (Christians, which I AM, I just know how to laugh at COMEDY that is somewhat true…) complaining and now this show for the same reasons. I think maybe the issue was the TIME SLOT or if ABC is starting to lean more towards a Christian based channel, with good family shows because of its parent company being Disney, maybe this show should be on NBC! I for one, would watch OUAT and then switch to The Walking Dead and back to 666…I hate Revenge! You all cancel the good shows, GCB, Body of Proof, 666 and keep the crappy ones, Don’t trust the B—- and Happy endings…aren’t there ENOUGH shows on tv JUST LIKE this one! 666 was unique and new and exciting!

Yes, I agree. I think that the raters of the new tv shows are actually very unaware to the viewer’s likes and dislikes. I think that they should somehow contact the general public for reviews as we are the viewers and should be able to watch what we want. I agree and am planning at 10:00 a.m. changing the channel to watch “the Mentalist” instead! At least that show keeps our brains more awake and excited!

I was very devastated when I didn’t see 666 Park Ave. My boyfriend would schedule our day around that 8 to 11 because we both liked all three shows. 666 is the only show I seen for a while that kept you on the edge of your seat. Most of the sit-coms now seem to have one lame joke after another; there are so many police shows I can’t even count how many. 666 Park Ave had what it takes to keep a person in front of the TV.

I would advise for you to read the book. Spoilerish is that jane is a witch so was her grandmother. I myself would like to see how the writers played all this out. Unfortunately we won’t wrap it up in a few episodes.
I would have to agree with you … there are too many – What do they call it …Oh yeah — Reality shows (like those are real reality?!). Some stations keep renewing really stupid stuff, and do away with things that are VERY entertaining . . . . (You know 666 Park Avenue) something that takes you away from reality for a while. I don’t know about most….but I do know I have enough reality in my life to NOT sit and watch someone’s “reality” besides mine.

I am part of the boomer generation and most of us loved watching 666 Park Avenue (we also don;t like silly sitcoms, which I’ve never watched). However, I agree with you that it was a very bad move to cancel the show. What was ABC thinking? Now we have to wait to watch the remaining shows during the summer when most of us are traveling, enjoying the sun, etc? Bad form again ABC!!!

Me, Too! Sunday night from 7 to 10 pm was best TV watching of the week. I will probably give up Revenge now. Just change to movies or ball games. I was so disappointed tonite to learn 666 Park Avenue was pulled. Why?

I was so looking forward to 666 after the Christmas break. I am so disappointed. It was my favorite night of TV. Finally, ABC had some great interesting shows. Do they listen to their viewers. Bring the show back!!!! Take a Nielsen poll. FInd out how many of us were tuned in Sunday night watching the show. It had to be the first time since I was kid that I actually watched three hours of TV in one sitting.
Another show I enjoyed cancelled and yet these lame reality shows go on and on. I was upset when they cancelled Pan Am too. It seems like any show that is interesting and exciting get cancelled, they actually had some imagination behind them. While the drone programs go on and on. I am getting tired of TV.
I was quite fond of 666 Park Avenue, It was one of 4 shows i watch and by far my favorite tv show in a long time. Vanessa Willams and the entire crew were incredible and the story line was awesome and clever. perhaps the timeslot was not well promoted or potentail viewers went to be early

Just wanted to echo the comments. Sunday night ABC lineup was great, going from Once Upon a Time, to Revenge, and then 666 Park Avenue. Now that it is gone, most likely we will not be watching Revenge as it was just there as filler between Once and 666. Given that Once Upon a Time is also not a typical cop drama/comedy/reality show, it will be the next to be cancelled.
I see the networks as creating their own downward spiral. Fans are increasingly skeptical to invest time in new shows as they tend to get cancelled without a chance. 666 Park Avenue was the only new show I watched this year (even though others looked interesting).
Good news for Netflix and owners of HBO I suppose.

ABC always cancels every show that I really get into. I think I need to rethink about watching this channel anymore. They never seem to really push the good shows with advertisement. It seems like very few of the networks have the cojones to stick with a show that is a little different. They prefer to stick with comedies whether they are funny or not. I will be switching off ABC on Sunday’s as well.

They did the same thing to Eastwick! After they pulled that show I vowed not to watch any more of their shows. But when I saw 666 Park I thought I would give them another shot, and they did the same thing. I’m over ABC!
ABC makes a lot of mistakes. I usually do not bother watching ABC any more due to them pulling every show I enjoy. ABC used to be the main channel I’d watch, now the only show I watch is Revenge so when they cancel that, I will be completly done with them. I even switched to CBS for my daily news because of them pulling OLTL.

It figures, they pulled “Invasion”, “Surface” and “American gothic”, they were series with the concept of being “different”. Why would I think 666 would last? We are forced to watch the same old mystery murder crime solving series. Take a poll first. Well guess what it is not the 1970′s, there are alot of other channels. I’m a 65 year old person who loved 666 Park Ave. How could ABC do it. I used to watch so much at ABC, but they lost me with moves like this, and I became a CBS person. I love GMA and watch everyday, and Diane Sawyer, but you lost me right after breakfast when you canceled my soaps. I laid on the couch p g with my daughter, Stacey, and watched them all grow up. 666 Park Ave. was the first really intelligent, excellently acted work at ABC in a decade.

You Totally cancelled a good show! You guys are a bunch of retards! You really don’t know what is clearly a good show and whats not! I’m about done with your station, really! I know all you guys in Hollywood are in “LaLa Land” but really come down to earth and get a clue on what people would really like to watch. And its not reality shows either. We have enough reality in our own lives!
One of the issues is that ABC doesn’t seem to know how to schedule programs for the target audience. They put 666 Park on against the Walking Dead season 3 episodes. There is nothing wrong with the show and Terry O’Quinn was a perfect cast as the nefarious character that anchors the show. After LOST, it was great to see him weekly in Primetime. I don’t think that they take into account that those of us who are hooked on WD are DVRing 666 and watching them later. This is much like the daytime revamp that saw the demise of ling running soaps that people were devoted to, also not taking into account that the fall in ratings is due to the change in the workforce, there simply are not as many stay at home moms as in the peak days of the genre, the economy is messed up, duh! This means people are DVRing these shows and Neilson boxes aren’t in every household! Who knows anyone with a Neilson box??? Ever known someone???? ABC has a history of launching a show and then abandonning it because of their own scheduling stupidity. If you want the audience that will watch paranormal dramas then don’t pit it against a cult hit like Walking Dead! This is logical enough to a peon like me. Disappointed, but that’s why viewers are not tuning in to the big 3 like they used to. Maybe in a few weeks we’ll be blessed with another Bachelor type show so that our TV’s will go dark on Sundays and Mondays. I am tired of these TV execs assuming that all I want to see is whiny reality shows! Even with cable or sattelite it’s difficult to find scripted tv unless you’re willing to watch decades of reruns of old shows. Thanks for taking actual viewers into account as you retool your schedule.
This comment hit it mark on how I feel. Don’t cancel the show just change the time slot if you have to have live viewers at that particular time!!. Get a grip today we watch at anytime everything we love to watch.
I agree with this post. I was watching 666 on my abc app on the ipad… Even tho I don’t watch walking dead, I wanted to watch it on my own time. I’ve been waiting anxiously for the next episode… so sad it’s gone!
I agree. Scheduling has changed big time from the old days when people had to be sitting in their Lazy boys at the given time for a program. People are recording them, or watching them on-line, through the stations or on other internet sources. Please, at least put these shows on your internet page so people can watch the shows there. I thought perhaps the writers had run out of ideas, as this was a book. I hope not, it was very creative, well written and the special effects and the acting was superb. Put it on-line at least!!!!! We love it. You can’t leave us hanging here!!!!!
What the hell!!! After watching Revenge I was all excited about Park 666 only to see some strange cheesy show in its replacement – Doesn’t make sense AT ALL!!! Bring it back.
I am shocked that you cancelled this show. ! I loved it, it was so intriguing and different. The characters, script , and costumes were fantastic. Why ? I guess I will just read a book. I certainly won’t watch some stupid show for bimbos.

666 Park Ave was different from the other shows it was full of suspense and intrique including that small bit of scariness that frightens you but leaves you wanting more, so many people I know were watching the show . I don’t understand why you would take it away and not finish the series it is unfair to the viewers. The part that is extremely upsetting is the shows that it was replaced with I don’t believe are even serious competitors with 666. If I worked for ABC I would have kept 666 on the air and definitely not replaced them with the other two shows.

My wife and I have been burned by so many series cancellations, that we started just waiting a few years, and downloading or watching on Hulu or Netflix only series that had been long running, or actually come to a real conclusion.

Well here we go again with a network that will not give a quality show a chance. I really enjoyed 666 park avenue as it is something different in scope. I am getting pretty sick and tired of TV networks cancelling good shows for “junk Comedies” The Majority of ABC’S programming is BS and for people with no brains. 666 Park Avenue is the only show on Sunday Nights and Once upon a time that are of quality. I refuse to look at what the other networks show as they are equally dumb, stupid and very idiotic, I hate the Mentalist and do not care for the other Sunday night shows at that time slot. ABC get your act together and drop the comedies and put 666 park avenue back on the air

So, ABC, what you are basically saying is, the viewers can invest 9 weeks to one of your series, and then YOU can just leaving us hanging after YOU decide the series isn’t getting the ratings YOU want!!! YOU could at least have the decency to run the remaining series in January!! Come this summer, who will care!!??? Bad move on ABC’s part. I loved the Sunday night line up and watched Once Upon a Time, Revenge and 666 Park Avenue. I can’t believe they cancelled the show and put Happy Endings (which I can’t stand) and Apt. 23 (which I could never get into) in its place. Too bad, looks like I am making the switch back to CBS.

666 Park Avenue was a great show with a great cast of actors! My wife and I loved this show and had shared the story to so many who decided to start watching it! ABC lost 12 of my family members and 36 of our friends who started watching the show from our recommendation! Way to go ABC decision makers! South Carolina was vastly growing as a 666 Park Avenue STATE on Sunday nights! Now they are switching to watch the Menalist! Wow! Seeing some of the show that are on ABC now, really! You cancel 666 Park Avenue? Why don’t you give it another thought? You might like it!!!!

At least they let Fringe have an ending. With 666, we are left in the dark with what happened next. Networks have no heart or do they care about the faithful audience. If they know they are going to cancel something, can’t they give us the courtesy of an ending??????????

I just received the news I didn’t want to see…seriously does anyone have any idea how hard it is to get your old man involved in your shows without him snagging the remote to change the channel. We BOTH lovedddddddddddddd 666 Park Ave. and now I get to relay the bad news to him this evening. We have behind this month on our shows but had the DVR to back us up but 666 was not on there hmmmmm I thought weird but then again I’ve been awaiting the new shows of the Walking Dead. We have been watching Revenge and 666 since the first day it aired. VERY UNHAPPY!!!
It would be nice if they would let all us fans watch the rest of the episodes even if they have to sell them to Netflix.

666 Park Avenue was the only show on TV worth watching. Great cast. I never saw an hour go by so fast while watching the show. It was truly original and a far cry from the run of the mill shows on TV and I’m so sick of new reality shows. They are boring. Now Sunday night is just boring, nothing to look forward to on TV. Just makes me wonder… you think big time TV executives know what they are doing… I guess not. This is truly a shame that 666 Park Avenue was taken off the air. We were left at such a great part in the last episode where Gavin found his daughter Sasha (that we were told killed herself).
It is a shame that these dumb executives always take the best of TV for stumble bum rot.

666 was the best new show on ABC. The comedies are awful. It’s a lose/lose situation. There’s a Facebook page devoted to bringing back 666, as 666 was filled with suspense, intrigue, mystery, and supernatural drama, as well as being well acted and well written. ABC just keeps lowering its standards and filling the airways with mostly sub-par, lame comedies and Bachelor sleaze.

Boooooo! I just heard that 666 was cancelled while searching to see if it would be back on tomorrow night and I’m so disappointed! I really enjoy watching this show after revenge on Sundays and was one of the shows I looked forward to each week! Maybe some other network will pick it up instead – sometimes I don’t think they give these shows enough of a chance before deciding they are cancelled. It’s crazy, because so much time and money goes into writing, casting, filming, etc. each of these shows and then they just say, “oh, never mind.” Boo! I was excited to see this show tomorrow night!
Another “AGREED”! I was all ABC’s from 7pm-10pm Sundays. I really don’t understand what these networks think they’re doing. Series USED to last longer than a mere 6 mos., which has often been the whole lifespan of many of the shows I’ve really liked over the past few yrs. Just when they hit upon something new & different (for a change!), it’s cancelled. ABC isn’t unique in this respect – ALL the channels suck, one way or another. Getting really fed up with TV in general……..

I hate that they are canceling this show. Perhaps tbs will pick them up and continue the story like they are doing with cougar town. This was a great show. Not as good as dexter and homeland, which I watchednback to back on Sunday, but still a great show and I watchd it on TiVo. The characters and storyline were great? Please continue the show. Vanessa Williams is great in all that she touches. She had the sass and arrogance and sophistication of ugly Betty, desperate housewives, and knots landing all rolled into one show, with a little supernatural. Yes I know she was not in knots landing or dynasty but she portrays that bitchy class that made those shows great.

you can blame the ratings when a show does a 3 and you think it could be doing a 3.5. You can’t blame it when it does a .9. There is no system in the world that can save the writing on this or H. Endings.
The real problem was the scheduling.
ABC, Fox and NBC all air comedies that appeal to the exact same audience at the exact same time. In particular, putting Happy Endings opposite the very similar New Girl killed it stone dead. None of the 9:30 comedies are viable because of this crush.
Watch New Girl gain in April once Happy Endings and Go On depart their timeslots.
If I remember correctly new girl numbers went down every week last year esp in the second part of the season…that will happen again as the show is unsustainable…it’s just too boring to grow in my opinion. I agree at the same time it hurt everyone’s numbers but I think all those shows are pretty weak.
I for one have that dilema. I watch Ben & Kate, New Girl, & The Mindy Project on Fox live. I watch Go On & The New Normal the next day on NBC.com. Then I watch Happy Endings & Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23 on ABC.com or Hulu. Too many comedies on at the same time!
I’m wondering what this effort really means — is the network burning off these sitcoms or is this an effort to bring new viewers in? Obviously they are speeding the scheduling in order to bring in the Spring premieres on time, “Happy Endings” also experienced the 10 o’clock rush in its first season.
If “Super Fun Night” gets picked up, I’m assuming one of these comedies will be paired with it… unless they plan to greenlight a whole new set of comedies.
666 was a decent story-driven show. Why would viewers want to invest in new shows if they are just going to be axed midseason?

Happy Endings was an awesome show last year, but this year has been a massive disappointment. I just hope that this is a good sign for Family Tools.
Yup, I would imagine as much. The hope would be to self-start because of Rebel. My guess would go to Happy Endings, then, because it’s more valuable to ABC’s parent company and Sony shows are comparably cheap.
That is, of course, if Super Fun Night gets picked up.
I absolutely adore Happy Endings & Apt. 23. I truly hope ABC nurture these gems properly, and not discard them later on. Also, ABC needs to revamp Revenge, because the first season was brilliant. Sadly, this season has mediocre writing and unbelievably convoluted plot lines are ridiculous and not entertaining whatsoever.
I guess I should look at the bright side:
On Sundays, after 10pm, I’ll be FREE! One less hour of TV; one more hour to read; hour earlier to bed.

Bottom line is ABC is doing the smart thing here and removing 666 from the schedule as quickly as possible but airing the comedies at such a strange spot on a Sunday night doesn’t seem to be a good idea…why not just move Nashville into this slot instead?
That makes a lot more sense to me, too! Then they could have 3 hours of comedies on Wednesday and 3 hours of drama on Sundays. ABC is so stupid most of the time!
Apt 23, Mindy Project, and Go On are all the same kind of comedy, at the same night, same time-THATS why none of them are doing well. If this can help Apt 23, and Happy Endings for that mater, then so be it. Strange time ot put on 2 comedies, though, aint it?
Good theory, except that Go On airs at 9 and the other two comedies you mentioned air at 9:30.
I love Apt 23, but I can accept the fact that it’s just not the kind of comedy a wide audience will like. This is a burn-off, not a test drive.

Clearly ABC is just trying to burn off the episodes of both HE and Apt 23. I don’t see either series gaining viewers being added to Sunday nights. To my knowledge doesn’t ABC have 2 other comedies debuting mid season(Family Tools and How to live)?.
First off let me be the first to say that ABC will NEVER air the remaining 666 Park Ave episodes over the Summer. Mark my words. But I don’t understand why ABC would even let this series get to 13 episodes when they could have just cancelled it months ago. This show flopped out the gate compared to the other shows airing on ABC Sunday nights. To me it just seems like a waste of money on unnecessary episode orders that will never see the light of day. Atleast CBS closed down production on Made in Jersey after 3-4 episodes and saved everybody time and money.

They are not putting those comedies in the 10 pm Sunday night timeslot because they think they can grow an audience. Those comedies are being used as the sacrificial lambs to be slaughted against the football playoff games and award programs. It’s a smart move by ABC as they have little chance of holding/building an audience on Sundays with the shit the head of programming brought in this year. And really they ought to use Once Upon A TIme and Revenge sparingly during the first two months of this year to avoid having their audience decimated as well. Perhaps they should have scheduled Nashville and 666 Park Avenue in the 8 and 9 pm slots just until February, because Nashville isn’t going to become a hit either. OF course Paul Lee could use the flop, The Neighbors, and the mediocre to failing, Suburgatory, to just run an all comedy block on Sunday nights to take the hits for their “hits,” Once Upon A TIme and Revenge. I know one thing for sure. They desperately need leadership over at ABC, someone with a clue. ABC has not shown any significant improvement in their overall position since changing heads of programming.

Apt 23 has been hilarious this season, and is one of my favorite comedies. It makes me so sad that it’s struggling in the ratings. I wish more people would give it a chance.
I used to like Happy Endings, and I still watch it, but I think it has mostly been pretty terrible this season.
If I had to pick one of the two to save, it would definitely be the funnier, fresher, more creative show – Apt 23.
