EXCLUSIVE: Here’s a hot signing before the biz goes away for the holidays. CAA has just signed Jon Hamm, the Mad Men star who recently left ICM Partners early last month following the exit of his longtime agent Carol Bodie. Hamm had taken meetings with a few of the agencies — WME was the other major player — but he’s headed for CAA. Hamm should have a bright future in features. Like Alec Baldwin, he can play comedy as well as drama, and has done several inspired turns on Saturday Night Live and in the film Bridesmaids. He played serious in the Ben Affleck-directed The Town, and those blue-chinned guys like Hamm also work well in macho franchises.
WME didn’t come out of this empty handed, as the agency reportedly signed David Oyelowo, who left ICM Partners at the same time Hamm did and has reportedly signed with WME. After a great run on the British spy series MI-5, Oyelowo has been busy in features that include Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and The Paperboy.

“blue-chinned”? is that a new expression?
They’ll always be the Cadillac.
Smart move. They’ll know what to do for him and how to do it. He’s great as both lead and featured player as well. He has humility generally as a performer…it shows…and that’s just one of his many strengths.
Silbermann is crying.
Who signed him there?
Iris Grossman is responsible for his career. Loyalty is impossible to find in this town. Yet another TV star who will NEVER be a FF star.
Smart move by the agency AND Jon Hamm. CAA will actually get him LEAD roles in films, something ICM Partners struggled with due to their inability to package.
LOL, yeah…lead roles opposite Jennifer Aniston in Love Happens 2. Hahahahaha Poor Jon. Keep your wits about you dude. Put your foot down. They’ll kill your career otherwise.
I don’t think he’s a movie star (he’s been forgettable in all his most recent roles), but maybe they can get him a flashy network TV show when Mad Men ends so he can make some money.
Exactly my thoughts. He’s a good actor but not movie star material.
Jon Hamm is brilliant.
Loyalty is B.S. The minute your career cools a bit, they’re onto whoever else is hot. Agenting 101.
Hamm favors The Twilight Zone’s Rod Serling. If a move about Serling is ever made J-Hamm the guy. Serling’s cameos were creepiest part of the show.
I don’t think Jon Hamm wants to be a movie star. Surely, he has already received leading man movie roles. I get a sense he just wants to work with the best filmmakers and the best scripts.
I doubt he’ll ever be a movie star. He should stick to TV.
Hamm is a character actor in a very handsom body. He will do fine in both FF and TV.
I think he would make a great movie star if given the right roles. I can just imagine how fantastic Jon would be as Linus Larabee in the romantic comedy, Sabrina/1995 or as Nicholas Van Orton in mystery thriller, The Game/1997. These two amazing characters are perfectly match with his real personalities and his brilliant acting on Mad Men and these types of films are his kind of materials he should go for.
David Oyelowo is a very mediocre talent. he performance in Reacher ruins the film.
Good luck!
