Barry Julien has been promoted to be The Colbert Report‘s co-executive producer and Opus Moreschi will become head writer, Comedy Central announced today. “Barry Julien and Opus Moreschi are tireless, visionary producers and incredibly talented writers. For instance they wrote this sentence,” host and executive producer Stephen Colbert said in a statement Monday. Canadian-born Julien joined the fake news show five years ago and was supervising producer for the past year as well as head writer; he will continue as a writer. He has won three WGA Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program in 2008 and 2010. Moreschi joined Colbert as a writer in 2008. He has won two WGA Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program in 2010 for his work on the show.
