Constantin Film announced today that they have acquired film rights to Neal Shusterman’s science fiction novel Unwind. First published in 2007, the bestselling young-adult book takes place in a dystopian future after the Second Civil War. In this harsh new world, teenagers’ parents can decide if they want their children’s organs transplanted into different donors at Harvest Camps — a process known as being “unwound.” Constantin Film co-president Robert Kulzer, who brought the project to the company, will serve as producer on the film adaptation. Marc Benardout, Catherine Kimmel and Julian Stone will also produce, as will Charlotte Stoudt for Stay Whole Productions. Martin Moszkowicz will executive produce. Shusterman, who also writes screenplays for movies and TV shows such as Animorphs and Goosebumps, is repped by APA and Underground.
