The CW kept things simple on its midseason schedule, with new drama Cult filling the Tuesday 9 PM slot, which will become vacant after freshman Emily Owens, MD ends its 13-episode run. (The CW opted not to pick up additional episodes of the medical drama.) The network today announced that Cult will debut on February 19. The suspense drama will be an unlikely companion for soap Hart Of Dixie, which airs on the night at 8 PM as part of the network’s ‘doctor-doctor’ fall lineup. Cult centers on investigative journalist Jeff Sefton (Matt Davis), who teams with the young research assistant (Jessica Lucas) on a popular TV show when his younger brother Nate goes missing and the show’s gruesome plot twists begin to play out in the real world. The two race to save Nate and unravel the mystery behind the TV series whose hard-core fans would literally kill to see what happens next. Alona Tal and Robert Knepper co-star on the series from Fake Empire, Warner Bros TV and CBS Television Studios, with executive producers Rockne S. O’Bannon, Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Len Goldstein. Here is a trailer:

This is the worst scheduling decision in a long time. Also one of the worst pilots to get picked up in a long time. So, maybe it does make sense!
Maybe the CW execs noticed the terrible pilot and they’re trying to bury Cult as soon as possible. B&B is trash but at least has an audience after TVD. Hope it gets canceled like The Secret Flop did last year.
It has all the production value of a softcore cinemax series from the late 90′s. At least hoping I can go western grip while watching.
I totally disagree. Cult was an amazing Pilot. I had the chance to watch it a few months ago and I thought it was amazing. It is so different then the typical dramas (Medical or Cop shows) out there, and has a lot of suspense to it. I love that you are watching a TV show within a TV show and you sometimes don’t know which is which. The actors are great in it. I really hope that it does well in that time slot. I can’t wait until Feb 19th.
Oy! T-Bag and Alaric are going to have their hands full trying to make something of this mess. If it will succeed, it will be because of those guys, working on sheer charisma.
Cult is in the wrong timeslot. It should be on Wednesdays behind Arrow or Thursdays behind VD. I will even take Fridays after or before Nikita. Tuesdays is going to get this show cancelled, and by the looks of the preview it doesn’t deserve this treatment.
Should be swapped with Beauty and Beast on Thursdays…that show has one foot in the grave already
Sounds like Freakylinks 2
This is Videodrome meets Se7en, broadcast on a weekly schedule, right?
)I’m tired of feeling like the only person who lived through the ’80s.)
Haha. Good call. Despite that, I think the idea could be interesting. Yes, this preview is terrible, but it’s kind of like Fringe Jr. and might be able to go somewhere if the writing is good.
Cult is short for culture but this should be titled Clut it’s nothing but clutter. It’s a show that’s impossible to believe with everything possible thrown into it including a kitchen sink. How could so many people be involved in this murder cult? Is society to blame? That’s what it looks like. It’s ridiculous and they are hoping it will grow virally online. #JoinTheCult.
Why not move Beauty & the Beast, which is clearly not working out of The Vampire Diaries, to Tuesday at 9pm and give Cult the post-TVD slot to try and capitalize on TVD fans who liked Matt Davis? Playing it safe by not reshuffling is playing it stupid. Hard to imagine Cult breaking out with such a piddling, incompatible lead-in.
cant wait anything with Matt Davis has to be good !!!!
