BREAKING: Perhaps trying to create more space between competing movies, FilmDistrict has moved Olympus Has Fallen to March 22. That film, directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman, has a storyline very similar to White House Down, the Sony Pictures film that stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, with Roland Emmerich directing. Both are Die Hard-in-the-White House-style dramas where the the building is overtaken by terrorists and it’s up to a Secret Service agent to save the president. White House Down‘s current date is June 28, but let’s see if Sony changes that. It’s usually better to be first – Capote did much better than the similar-themed Infamous – but not always. Last year, after much jockeying, Relativity Media put its Snow White saga Mirror Mirror out first. Universal’s Snow White And The Huntsman did better, and a sequel script was just turned in.

This looks like The Asylum rip-off of WHITE HOUSE DOWN (you know, the ones that produce the masterpieces AGE OF THE HOBBITS, AMERICAN BATTLESHIP, etc, etc). I didn’t know Gerard Butler was doing direct-to-DVD films now… oh yeah, I guess that’s what happens bomb after bomb.
Those explosions in the background of the poster are a metaphor for his career.
They are betting that audiences will forget what a horrible actor Butler is. By March they will put Morgan Freeman front and center on that poster.
Come February they will send Butler to get a DUI or to date Octomom or Lindsey Lohan, to raise his profile before the launch of the movie.
I’m sure the one with Gerard Butler will open HUGE….lies.
Olympus Has Fallen is a better script than White House Down. I will go see both movies but WHD will make more money because it’s a bigger movie it has the July 4th weekend and nothing will beat it in that slot.
Sure I’m going to trust the opinion from someone who wants to see both movies. I guess you just go to everything Hollywood spews out…
While Olympus does have the more interesting Cast (minus Gerard Butler) and Director, I, too, believe that WHD will be the bigger hit. I’ll be shocked if Olympus makes it passed the $50 million mark. That being said, I’ll be there opening weekend with my popcorn ready.
WHD is way better in my opinion for the simple fact that the president goes down a dirty with the attacker. In OHF he aint doing shit but being locked up in bunker. WHD more commercial success and fun. Although the Motive in OHF is stronger but the action scenes in WHD is more fun and crowd pleaser!
Gerard Butler should beg Cameron Diaz to play her cheating lover in “The Other Woman”. Starring in surefire box-office hit comedy with Diaz and Kristen Wiig might be his only chance to resurrect what’s left of his career.

How does anyone keep hiring Gerard Butler? Let’s recap; Machine Gun Preacher=flop , Chasing Mavericks=flop, Playing the Field=massive flop. Not even a remake of 300 could save his career at this point.
Gosh, a lot of angry males on this site. Butler has so many female fans, must be why the men all hate him! Machine Gun Preacher was a film he did very well in, acting wise. Did you see it? The Distributor, Relativity, screwed it over and put all their money into Mirror, Mirror. No PR, no distribution. Chasing Mavericks was a decent small film, and he did a good job in it; it was a small biopic. He went to Africa for Machine Gun preacher, learned to surf for Chasing Mavericks. He works hard, but has had bad luck. His fans are hoping for better luck. Also supposed to start working on Thunder Run with McConahuey and Worthington next year. Iraq invasion movie. I suspect lots of you are reading about the films, not seeing them. Butler does a good job, he just needs the right director. I find the White House Down story and Channing Tatum a big bore. Thought Magic Mike the dumbest thing in years.
He is a likeable guy, well liked by co workers who describe him as very sweet natured, and does a lot of charity work. I wish him luck.
We females deserted Butler when his looks deteriorated. FACT. We only really liked him in 300 anyway. After he morphed into Grandpa Fester, we wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole now.

Yep! OHF stands a far better chance at international box office. Gerard’s CV is far above anyone else’s. he’s done Shakespeare and ALW chose him for the iconic Phantom
Of the Opera. Law Abiding Citizen was intense. Gerard Butler is an actor not a Hollywood press baby. He is far superior and I can’t wait to see This new film. Movie 43 should also be a hoot.
