Fox announced today that So You Think You Can Dance is coming back for a 10th season. “I couldn’t be more proud of the amazing work that Nigel and the entire So You Think You Can Dance team has done over the past nine seasons. This show is truly one of the most compelling series on television and I can’t wait to bring it back for Season 10,” Fox’s President of Alternative Entertainment Mike Darnell said in a statement today. Created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe, SYTYCD is produced by 19 Entertainment. The series is executive produced by Fuller, Lythgoe and Allen Shapiro. Fox also announced that the Emmy-winning SYTYCD would begin auditions for Season 10 in Austin on January 18. It will then move to Detroit on February 11, Boston on February 21, Memphis on March 14 and LA’s downtown Orpheum Theatre on March 22.

I love SYTYCD more than any other show on TV. I just love watching people dance and Dancing with the Stars just doesn’t do it for me. I saw Katherine, the winner a couple seasons ago, on the “Jar of Hearts” video,she was amazing as usual. So glad the show is renewed, wish it was still on for two nights.
Love the show, I love to see the passion, dedication and skill. I try to take the emotion and apply it to my life and my work. I am a teacher, I teach a few different classes but they are short 2 days in length. I have learned to take the class I am teaching and put all my focus on that class like it is the only class I will ever teach. Lots of people have talent but a special few have deep passion. I can’t wait to witness the performance that will touch everyone.
As much as I wanted Kathryn to win Season 6, she was second runner-up. Russell won that season.

I love SYTYCD! It’s by far my favorite show. I just wish I didn’t have to wait so long between seasons.
I’m a HUGE fan of SYTYCD. I’ve never had the privelge of any dance training, so it amazes me what the young people (yes I’m OLD) can do with their bodies.
It too, is my FAVORTIE program ever (I watch reruns after reruns on Ovation TV); but I’m with DianeDeBenedictis… I just wish I didn’t have to wait so long between seasons, AND I wish FOX would do reruns every week so there was more continuity in watching it.
Oh and what is Alex doing now? Anyone know?

Thank you SYTYCD is renewed. I can’t believe Fox wasted so much money and airtime on X Factor, a singing contest that we don’t really care for and at the same time cut SYTYCD to just one night a week. We as audience are over-saturated with singing contests: Idol, Duet, The Voice, X Factor. Cut X Factor and spend more money and airtime on SYTYCD. How can you not love the Show? Nice background songs, wonderful dance variety, insightful comments from knowledgeable and humorous judges, great choreography.
Yes, SYTYCD is the greatest show ever! It shoud never stop. I have never seen such incredible dancers, choreographers, and nice people, because they’re all great.
I thank destiny that put SYTYCD in my life and had made me so happy. Please make one of the dancers, producers, choreographers, Cat, anybody from the show to come to Cuba, I’ll give him/her a free Havana Tour, just for bring me 8 & 9th season.
Been hook since the season when Twitch was sent home the first time. I love to see some of the SYTYCD dancers continue their careers. Not a Lady GaGa fan. But Mark is one of her lead dancers. It shows that there is real talent hidden across the country.
My favorite program. I, too, was disappointed when it was cut to only one night a week. The amount of time, training and dedication that the dancers have invested in deserves more air time. We have too many singing programs. This is the best programming on T.V.

I am absolutely elated that SYTYCD has been renewed!!!It’s my very favorite show. I agree that the network should not have cut it back to one day a week. And yes, there are too many singing contests on TV. The X-Factor is not exciting to me at all.
Now, where else on TV can dancers and a variety of choreographers get recognition for true talent and creativity with different dance styles and storylines to the routines? Dancing With the Stars is fluff and not a real competition. Plus, they only do ballroom dancing.
I am a senior citizen but dancing has always been a pleasure for me. (I wish I could have had formal training.) The renewal of SYTYCD is the best news this season!
Just heard Twitch and Allison got engaged. So happy for them. They make a cute couple. Can’t wait for new season to begin.
This comment is more in the form of a suggestion. (Adore the show, by the way.) The inclusion of so many dance styles is wonderful but something is missing for me which I believe if seriously considered would make an incredible contribution to the shows desire to educate and introduce its audience to dance variations – the inclusion of Native American dance, rhythms, choreography. Costuming would be incredible and its expression of tradition, story-telling, and relationships to a people’s ancient spiritual beliefs could be an incredibly edifying spectacle. Just a thought.
Does anyone know when the first night of the 10th season will be aired? FYI – Season 9 replays have been ongoing on Ovation recently – LOVE LOVE LOVE the personalities, the eclectic nature of the dance routines and choreographers – it’s just a big WOW for me and I agree – enough with the singing already – do like The Voice but the others bore me…not too sure about the new judges though -

Really like the show and glad its coming back but wasnt crazy about the format last year, wish it would go back to partnering the old way and the 2 night version..

This is by far my favorite show and I agree, the only thing I hate is the seasons are too far apart. I’m ready for it to come back on. I love the dances that tell a story. Amazing!!
