Just in time to commemorate the Mayan calendar prediction that the world will end tomorrow, Sony Pictures has released a teaser trailer for This Is The End, a movie that contemplates the apocalypse. I nominate it as the craziest and most irreverent movie trailer I’ve ever seen, nuts enough that maybe it is a sign the apocalypse is near. Does it make you want to live past tomorrow to see it next summer? Well, I remember that the red band trailer for The Watch looked pretty damn funny, and that movie fell flat and didn’t even gross its production budget.

i like these new script-less films. not. get the right people in the room… turn on the camera… make some phone calls while they make up some stuff… hang up the phone, call “cut” and hand it to your favorite editor.
Love every one of these actors except Franco. He is the worst. Ugh. He’s lost his looks as well. Definitely will be there opening night.
Love every single person in this movie, especially James Franco.
James has a lot of great movies coming out next year,including Interior Leather Bar (funny this site didn’t showcase this trailer), Oz the Great and Powerful and now this. All look pretty awesome, he should have a standout amazing 2013 and well deserved.
Because, these guys are true friends this movie will not fail, especially all together.
This trailer is the best I’ve seen in years, very funny and selfware. Well done to Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. There is no need to hate on these guys, if you don’t like them then don’t watch (plenty will however) or write articles about them (you only come across as a total fool).

This movie would have done great if they had it finished & playing BEFORE 12/21/12. They missed the boat on this one.

This should be the end of the career of everyone who participated in this travesty. It’s what happens when people get too full of themselves they descend into self-parody and utter nonsense and studios are happy to finance them in this because they don’t know any better. Judd Apatow is the perfect example of this and Seth Rogen is following his mentor.
Ummmm…. Extras..the Ricky Gervais show did the same thing with great success. Sounds like you don’t like either A. Seth Rogen or B. comedy because self parity can be funny. But we’ll see…trailer looks pretty funny.

It’d be interesting to learn the full story behind this one. Word is that this would have been the first directing foray of a USC student who was well connected with this guys long before they were ‘box office’ material (This film is based on Jason Stone’s ’07 short “Jay and Seth Vs the World”). Now the guy only has ‘story by’ credit….smells like too many ego driven cooks in the kitchen.

A great idea, and the edited-together scenes at the end looked promising, but the extended scene of all the actors talking needs tightening up severely. No tension, no rhythm, no humor.

This is garbage. Not a single funny. Since Seth totally ruined the coolest crime fighter with his atrocious Green Hornet, I find him unwatchable. All of this talent and they are fooling themselves.
Who cares about The Green Hornet? If Bruce Lee didn’t play the sidekick in the ’60s series, no one would have remembered that character.
I think this looks really funny. Big seth rogen & jonah hill fan. Love the crazy don’t give a fuck type of tone they’re going for.

Why didn’t anyone tell them this was a stupid concept and it wasn’t working? There was a group psychosis going on with this film and everyone involved bought into it. They so wanted this to be funny but it’s an epic fail. These guys think they are so awesome that all they have to do is show up and wing it and as long as a camera is rolling people will pay to see them be idiots. This isn’t a movie it’s a group masturbation session gone horribly wrong.
