In his pilot directing debut, John Riggi is set to helm the ABC comedy pilot Super Fun Night. Riggi is already working on the project, created by and starring Rebel Wilson — he joined as executive producer/showrunner when ABC gave it a pilot order as a single-camera comedy in September. (It was originally developed last season as a multi-camera sitcom for CBS where it went to pilot.) Super Fun Night follows three nerdy female friends: Kimmie (Wilson), Helen-Alice (Lisa Lapira) and Marika (Lauren Ash) on their “funcomfortable” quest to have “super fun” every Friday night. Kevin Bishop and Kelen Coleman co-star. For UTA-repped Riggi, who supervised the writing of the ABC version, the Super Fun Night gig stemmed from the two-year deal he signed with Warner Bros TV in May after six seasons on 30 Rock where he shared in the show’s three best comedy series Emmys. On the NBC comedy, Riggi also honed his skills as a director, helming 15 episodes.
Super Fun Night is produced by Warner Bros TV and O’Brien’s studio-based Conaco Prods. Riggi, O’Brien, Jeff Ross and David Kissinger executive produce, with Wilson serving as co-executive producer.

Rebel is hilarious. I went to a rehearsal of the original pilot and I thought it needed a bit of retooling, but I’m happy to see it’s being given another shot.
As a woman the description of this show makes me cringe. Who in hell is going to watch this crapfest?
The show hasn’t even aired so calling it a crapfest isn’t fair.
How about as a woman you have an open mind and perhaps support females in the industry? I swear you girls want things one way but as soon as it happens you’re all screaming for it to go back to how it was.
Grow up.
This guy makes everyone nuts. He’s a head-case.
Riggi is the comedy kiss of death.
Riggi is funny, smart, effortlessly fantastic with writers and actors alike –and a damn good director too. These folks are lucky to work with him, just like I was.
Rebel Wilson is clearly a comedic force. I hope John Riggi will shepherd her skills effectively. Having read most of the new pilot scripts green lit for this season, this one has the most potential to be a long term hit.
