LA Reid will not be back for another season of The X Factor, Deadline has confirmed. “He’s going back to the music business full time, it’s his decision,” a source says. The Epic Records chair was the only judge besides show creator Simon Cowell to return for Season 2 of the singing competition. The second-season option on his contract was picked up in February soon after Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones were let go. Reid will sit with fellow judges Cowell, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato tonight for the live semifinals episode that is filming at 5 PM in LA.
Deadline's Dominic Patten - tip him here.

Not sure LA was ever comfortable being a judge, but this year the tension between LA and Simon was truly palpable. The action between Demi and Simon looks tense, but most of it is show biz.
With LA and Simon…it was real. IMHO.
It’s amazing how Simon and The X Factor have had so much trouble just putting the show together and finding judges while it only took The Voice a few months from pick-up to first episode when it first premiered to get going and big too. And look at the no-drama announcement of Usher and Shakira filling in for Cee-Lo and Christina for the spring season. Isn’t Simon supposed to be the veteran guy putting together shows like this?
I actually enjoyed LA Reid as judge of The X-Factor. He was real and gave good advice. He wasn’t the token black guy like Randy Jackson is on American Idol.
Wow – I think LA is a joke on the show. I’m glad he’s not coming back for another season, but the show is terrible anyway with or without him.
The most accurate statement on here. The X Factor never could get it right. Although I absolutely love Simon the over the top production and larger than life judges like, DD, were one of the demise of The X. Not too mention, Simon not making the show relevant. He should have kept it basic with raw talent then he would have saw some success.
it’s nice to see LA realized what a colossal waste of time that show is. maybe they will replace him with another seasoned music veteran, like Psy.
You know X-Factor’s going downhill fast if LA Reid is going back to the shitty, no-money music business. The only reason most of these guys sign on to be judges on TV in the first place is because the music biz is on life support.
is the music biz back ? who is buying albums at 20 bucks a pop ?
Phew, just in the nick of time. Sean Penn was about to call him a sell-out…
Good riddance. Reid was brought onto the show to give solid insight into acts that could make it in the music business, as an “insider” no doubt, yet he has consistently failed this season to provide any REAL commentary or substance to the show. He needs to leave to save his career, because the shine of “OMG that’s LA Reid” is wearing off now that everyone can see he is not as impressive as once hyped. If Demi is a more realistic and ballsy judge than you, you’ve failed.
well said Steven
A B A N D O N ship, U.S. X Factor is sinking fast. Simon you made one big mistake firing Cheryl from U.S. X Factor, she was great as a judge on the show. CHERYL IS AWESOME !!!!!!
It doesn’t matter for me now, this season of The X Factor and its new hosts are realy horrible, I’m not gonna waste my time again on this.
On the other hand, The Voice is only getting better and better, I just can’t get enough of it)
