Martin Scorsese will give former President Bill Clinton a documentary treatment at HBO. The pay cable network has teamed with the Oscar-winning director for a documentary spotlighting the 42nd President of the United States. Made with Clinton’s full cooperation, the film will explore his perspectives on history, politics, culture and the world, with Scorsese producing and directing, and Steve Bing producing. “A towering figure who remains a major voice in world issues, President Clinton continues to shape the political dialogue both here and around the world,” Scorsese said. “Through intimate conversations, I hope to provide greater insight into this transcendent figure.” Added Clinton, “I am pleased that legendary director Martin Scorsese and HBO have agreed to do this film. I look forward to sharing my perspective on my years as President, and my work in the years since, with HBO’s audience.”
Scorsese is a long-time Democrat with ties to the Clintons. He supported Hillary Clinton’s 2000 and 2006 Senate campaigns.
William Jefferson Clinton, the first Democratic president in six decades to be elected twice, served as President of the United States from 1993 to 2001, leading the U.S. to one of the longest economic expansions in American history. After leaving the White House, he established the William J. Clinton Foundation with the mission to improve global health, strengthen economies, promote healthier childhoods and protect the environment by fostering partnerships among governments, businesses, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and private citizens to turn good intentions into measurable results. To date, more than 2,100 Clinton Global Initiative commitments have improved the lives of 400 million people in 180 nations.
The Clinton documentary marks Martin Scorsese’s fourth collaboration with HBO, following the documentaries Public Speaking (2010) and the Emmy-winning George Harrison: Living In The Material World (2011), and the period drama series Boardwalk Empire, on which he serves as an executive producer and won an Emmy for directing the pilot.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

What, Harry Thomason was busy?
I like Clinton fine, but one thing no one feels is, “Gee, I haven’t seen him in a while.” What possibly new things can be revealed? Especially in a production by Bing, who replaced Burkle as Bill’s favorite rich buddy.
Liking and respecting Bill Clinton is an acquired taste. It took time, but I have come to greatly respect much about Clinton especially post presidency.
That being said, and as good as Scorsese HBO docs have been…what new and interesting revelations about Clinton can be learned about the man and his work which have not been said… “many times…many ways”? Tis the season…
Is it XXXX RATED?
Oh yeah, don’t bore the rest of the world either!!!!
So this will be a work of fiction?
Well, if they don’t include his sexploits, lies and impeachment, it will be fiction.
So far, they haven’t decided whether Monica Lewinsky will get a mention.
Oh really? How can you tell the Clinton story if you rewrite history?
‘
The democrat Party has moved so far to the left that they would call Clinton a tea-bagging Nazi if he were running for office today.
That won’t stop hollywood from trying to re-write History to make Clinton seem like some kind of accomplished ‘president’.
Goebbels would be proud at the propaganda machine the democrats have created to deflect from their failed ideology.
.
Really Goebbels? Nazis? Sounds like “cntrlfrk” gets a little whiny when people don’t agree with his/her views. Learn to control the factors in your life and leave everyone to find their own ways. As if, you are in better with what you have just spouted.
Sad that you don’t even see the blatant hypocrisy in your hate-speak.
I pity you.
Let me keep this simple— go eff yourself.
I hope he accurately shows us how Clinton amassed a network of over $100 million peddling influence. It should be relatively simple, “it’s math”.
Oh and please track down the $1,000 check Hillary used to make $100,000 selling pork futures.
Net worth not network.
It figures. We haven’t had a movie yet about a married guy who lied and raped and slepted his way into the White House. He can call it Pervert and Chief. Shawn Penn can play Slick Willie.
call it whatever you want but, with steve bing “producing” this film, a documentary it ain’t.
Didn’t we have this with “Primary Colors” and “Blackhawk down” or will this be revisionist history……
Many Americans, especially white men, get a charge out of believing that they’re more moral than at least one other person. I.e., no matter how bad they are, there’s always at least one other guy who’s worse.
And it doesn’t get any better than having that other immoral guy be POTUS.
In the case of President Stainmaker, this phenomenon got him elected AND re-elected.
The greatest achievement of the Clinton presidency was…um, er, um…not doing anything and letting the dot.com economy grow on autopilot – Calvin Coolidge redux
Yeah, just ignore the fact that Clinton balanced the budget and created a surplus. Oh, that’s right, Cheney said surpluses are bad and deficits don’t matter, right?
You obviously missed the point of that extremely accurate comment. Ask Mark Cuban…he’ll back it up.
Let’s be “fair” now…. After 40+ years of DEMOCRATIC control of BOTH HOUSES, During Bills second term, Gingrich and the GOP took over the congress and drafted “The Contract With America” that created the surplus. Clinton gets credit for gravitating towards the middle and signing it. There, now you’ve just been educated on the FACT of the “Clinton Surplus” that the left blowhards like to brag about.
I wonder if Marty will interview Monica?
I wonder if it will be a “real” documentary about his life, or the made up Hollywood story…
Is this the same William Jefferson Clinton who lied to the America public on television and before a Federal grand jury?? The same one who was impeached?? How funny that a press release on his life does not contain those pertinent facts! Save me the “documentary”.
This will be another white wash attempt to clean up the record of a good President with a bad record of treating women well! Never will tell the truth and never will be able to white wash the incident with the young lady who was so in love with him she became a laughing stock of the entire world. He ruined her life and then denied everything! unforgivable breach of confidence!
Most of the Clinton accomplishment presented by Nellie Andreeva are myths told over and over again by democrats as to where only democrats believe them to be true.. However, it will be interesting to see if the adulterous President and his womanizing sex scandals along with his the House impeachment will be part of the documentary. I am not holding my breath.
Will White House Oval Room culture be discussed / exposed? Monica? Risk taken comparable to CIA Director Petraeus?
Property! Property! I need a blue dress, three cigars, and some mayonaise on the set now!
Looking forward to the cigar scene.
Why?
Please nooooooooo!!!
Scorcese is a great director, but I hope his admiration for Clinton doesn’t prevent him from tying up a few loose ends:
1) Bill Clinton is the only President in hisory to pardon a fugitive felon (slimebucket Marc Rich)…WHY???
2)Bill Clinton was disbarred by the United States Supreme Court for repeatedly lying in a deposition and to a federal grand jury. He also lost his license to practice law in his home state Arkansas. Why shoud we trust a man too dishonest to be a lawyer?
3) Now that he has an adult daughter, does Bill Clinton have any regrets about destroying the reputations of all the women he slept with while still married to Hillary???
I could go on but I have a feeling these issues may be glossed over.
“William Jefferson Clinton, the first Democratic president in six decades to be elected twice, served as President of the United States from 1993 to 2001, leading the U.S. to one of the longest economic expansions in American history”
Bill Clinton had about as much to do with that economic expansion as he did the sun coming up in the morning. Reagan’s tax and regulatory relief set the stage for the economic growth of the 90s, fueling the high tech start ups of the 80s that became the high tech powerhouses of the 90s. Even Silicon Valley execs, not normally a Republican bunch, acknowledged this in a February 1996 Business Week piece. The economy of the 90s grew in spite of Clinton, not because of. And I notice in none of that history is Clinton being the first president in over a century to be impeached mentioned.
I hope Scarsese includes information on Bill Clintons pathological lying which led to his being the first elected president in US history to be impeached.
Sex, drugs, murder, lies and government cover-ups! Could be a good film. Let’s see if they stick to history.
What a freaking joke and waste of time!!! These Hollywood types continue their many, many contributions to the glorification of deviancy of American perverts such as Clinton. Hollywood has always been a cesspool of perversion and it continues to decline into the abyss.
