EXCLUSIVE: In his first regular series role in more than a decade, Seinfeld alum Michael Richards is set to co-star opposite Cheers‘ Kirstie Alley and Rhea Perlman in the TV Land pilot Giant Baby. Also joining the pilot created by Marco Pennette is Gilles Marini as a guest star/potential recurring.
Giant Baby revolves around Madison “Maddie” Banks (Alley), a Broadway star who finds her life turned upside down when Arlo (Eric Petersen), her long-lost son, turns up looking to connect after his adopted mother dies. Richards will play Maddie’s limo driver. Marini will play her chef. Perlman plays Maddie’s long-suffering assistant and best friend. The castings of Richards, Alley and Perlman are part of TV Land’s strategy to bring to its original shows some of the biggest sitcom stars of the past couple of decades. Richards is with Abrams Artists, Marini with SDB Partners.
Richards’ nine-season turn on Seinfeld as the fan favorite eccentric Kramer earned him three Emmys. Following a brief run as the star of the short-lived 2000 NBC series The Michael Richards Show, Richards has stayed away from TV save for a Seinfeld-themed arc on Curb Your Enthusiasm, the HBO comedy series of Seinfeld co-creator Larry David. He’s continued to perform as a standup, with a 2006 set at the Laugh Factory getting him in hot water over an N-word tirade onstage that was caught on tape.
Brothers & Sisters alum Marini was recently promoted to a regular on ABC Family’s Switched At Birth. He also just competed alongside Alley on the All-Stars edition of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars.

soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooogood
Kramer was a “fan favorite” but Michael Richards is a type cast has been who has an infamous on stage meltdown shrieking racial slurs and become tabloid fodder instead. Not a great casting choice.
TV Land traditionally picks 2 out of 3 pilots up.
Before this announcement, I was totally against this project. With Richards on board, I could take this or Brothers-in-Law. While I’d like to see Josh Cooke get a solid vehicle, Michael Richards is hilarious, partially due to novelty value, but he’s also a funny guy. The chances of this being rejected are now basically null.
FTR, I am not a racist.
Very nice! TV Land is a place to be for veteran sitcom stars. Keep that up. I really like that.
Michael Richards’ career has really been booming ever since the comedy club incident, yet another project for him here!
“Michael Richards’ career has really been booming ever since the comedy club incident”
I think you meant “BOMBING,” not “booming.” I’ve seen more appearances of Paulie Shore than I have Michael Richardson. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
his career booming???
well sure if you call sitting in a filthy apt
pulling your pud and watching Seinfeld re runs
” booming ”
andy warhol said it best
everybody gets their 15 minutes of fame
Kramer got more than 15 mins
and then
got a one way ticket to palookaville
now……..he is sitcom poison
if this thing lasts 13 weeks
it will be a miracle….
can u say LOSER???
Pilots are always good when someone’s “life is turned upside down.”
I am very glad to see Michael Richards coming back. I have seen him speak on the comedy club incident and is truly sorry. He stepped away from Hollywood. Check Richards out on “Comedians in cars getting coffee”. This new show sounds like it deserves a look.
I am happy for Michael Richards. I think he will be great in this show. I think Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee helped him. It seem that he felt bad about his night club incident.
