Now all games through December 30 have been iced since the owners locked out players in mid-September. The latest swath of cancellations, announced today by the NHL, comes as the league last week rejected the latest proposal by players, leaving negotiations on a new collective bargaining at an impasse. A nearly 20-hour session Thursday ended bitterly, with most concessions won taken off the table and no new talks scheduled. A total of 526 regular season games — almost half of the 2012-2013 season, which was supposed to begin October 11 — have been scrapped now, including the All-Star Game and the annual NHL Winter Classic, the popular New Year’s Day game played outdoors, both to be televised on NBC.

I’m a fan, enjoyed last season, especially for the Kings. But, this has gone on long enough. Just greed vs. greed. Will miss the Winter Classic and seeing what Sidney Crosby would/could be up too. Just seems like the season is lost. Damage done.
the nhlpa may decertify. but decertification will wipe out the season
Who cares? To me, canceling the entire season would be something I wouldn’t even notice. NHL=No Huge Loss.
With two lockouts in nine seasons, the NHL has passed the point where there’s even a semblance of dignity on either side.
It no longer matters who’s right – the NHL now looks like a bush league operation to anyone outside the sport (and to a good many insiders).
It’s just sad.
When billionaires and millionaires argue about who gets more money, everybody loses.
As I stated beforehand, it is time to get rid of the two cancers that are destroying this league…Buttplug Bettman and his little *itch Bill Daly. Time to get rid of these jackholes and bring in fresher leadership with guys who actually give a damn about the sport and isn’t a clone of David Stern, like Bettman is.
Totally agree about getting rid of Bettman. This is a guy that defended the former sponsor “Enzyte” with the famous “Smil’in Bob”. Not a hockey man. Smilin Bob could do better as commish.
