Sean Bean has been cast as the lead in TNT’s drama pilot Legends executive produced by Homeland‘s Howard Gordon. The Game Of Thrones alum replaces Brendon Fraser, who was originally cast in the role but exited the project last month. Based on the novel by Robert Littell, Legends centers on Martin Odum (Bean), a deep-cover operative who has an uncanny ability to transform himself into a different person for each job. Gordon, Jeffrey Nachmanoff and Mark Bomback developed Legends, which is produced by Fox 21. No stranger to tough guy roles, Bean played Eddard Stark on the first season of HBO’s Game Of Thrones. Among his other roles, the British actor played Boromir in Peter Jackson’s The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. As was announced at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, Bean is set to star in Scorched Earth, a post-apocalyptic action film that 24’s Brad Turner will direct. Bean is repped by CAA and Independent Talent Group.

You can’t die if you’re the lead of a TNT show… unless you get canceled?
Hmmm… Definitely an upgrade.
Hmm.. “Sean Bean has been cast as the lead in TNT’s drama pilot Legends executive produced by Homeland‘s Howard Gordon.” Oh, this sounds interesting… “Legends centers on Martin Odum (Bean), a deep-cover operative” oh, awesome… “who has an uncanny ability to transform himself into a different person for each job.” wait, what?!?
So, this is Human Target?
When this was Brendan Fraser, I could’ve cared less. Now that it’s Sean Bean, I’ll watch this every damn week. Nice when something like that works out.
Sean Bean is a better choice for the lead, but the premise is still a snooze. I didn’t care about this when it was called Human Target and I still don’t.
The premise reminds me of The Pretender, which I used to enjoy. Sean Bean is a good casting choice. I hope he can keep his accent, which is dead sexy. Also, please don’t let his character die. Time to break that trend once and for all.
Damn straight.
Sean Bean was also great as M.I.6 secret agent 006 in “GoldenEye” and as the disgraced soldier for hire, Spence, in “Ronin”, the Northern Ireland terrorist in “Patriot Games”, as well as portraying the excellent “Richard Sharpe” in the British movie series based on the “Sharpe” novels. Good for him and good for TV viewers on TNT.
Whoa. Nice casting TNT!
Much, much better than Fraser. Now I def want to watch.
Is Fox focusing on cable now? Seems every new cable pilot is from Fox 21. What happened to FTVS?
Unclear — ‘transform himself’ — is it fantasy or just good spycraft?
I bet he skips to the last page of every script he gets on this show to make sure his character is alive for the following week.
I wouldn’t think Sean would be interested in this, so I guess I better go back and read although that “creative tiff” suggests its different. Human Target & The Pretender never held my interest but I agree with others, if Sean’s in it, I’ll be watching!
Quantum Leap without the time travel?
Looking forward to Legends with Sean Bean as its lead. Great action and adventure actor. Really enjoy his work!
Talent always reveals itself-no mistake about this casting. selection. Sean is RADA TRAINED and has paid his dues on the stage and in film. He is an acting legend with the credits to prove it. Great choice! He is a great example of what it means to be a great actor and TNT should be overjoyed to have him in any film!!
blah blah blah and on, Sean bean is in it! I’ll watch and drool!!never cared much for lor until |I found him in it, now I think its great! yipppeeeeee
