Sony Pictures Television has closed a deal with TBS for cable syndication rights to the studio’s CBS comedy series Rules of Engagement, which will premiere on the Turner network on Jan. 2. The timing of the deal is unusual. Sony Pictures TV shopped the comedy, now heading into its seventh season, a year and a half ago when its cable rights were picked up by WGN America in a non-exclusive deal. (The series also was sold in broadcast syndication). This fall, Rules launched in cable syndication on WGN America and in broadcast syndication in 96% of the country. TBS has now joined WGNA as a cable distributor of the off-network series. The move comes on the heels of Rules recently shooting its 100th episode, a major achievement for the comedy, which had been repeatedly on the verge of cancellation several times but survived every time to continue as one of CBS’ most reliable utility players. The comedy’s seventh season debuts Feb. 4 as Rules replaces canceled freshman Partners on Mondays.

Ugh. I’m so sick of seeing this TV show on TV. Bad enough it was on my local channels, now it’s going to come on TBS. Sucks.

Agreed. Warburton is better than this. I’m glad he has steady work, but can’t watch this show. So, I’ll be watching less TBS and more Netflix.

Love the cultural elite here. 100 eps despite numerous timeslot changes, and a big syndie payday. SOMEBODY is watching this show. I watch it on occasion and it’s not bad. Sorry it’s not Arrested Development or whatever cancelled cult non-laugh track sitcom nobody watched.
The fact that this show is still on the air is mystifying. Have you ever met anyone who admits to watching it?
This show has been on for 7 years?! I keep thinking its a mid season pilot replacement that is going to shit 6 eps and get cancelled. But 7 years? Alzheimers must be setting, but if so then you’d think I would be already watching cbs comedies

I love this show it’s great. I record it on my DVR because TBS airs it at a stupid time. Would you rather see 2 Broke Girls than Rules? Come on there are plenty of crap shows that got renewed before Rules I’m unhappy about it!
My husband and I love this show, though it’s not add good since they’ve dumbed down Adam so much. It’s crazy that a character like Jen would stay with him. I’m the beginning, he was naive, but not incredibly stupid. Makes it less funny.

I love Rules of Engagement and can’t believe it is cancelled. It’s one of the funniest shows on TV. Timmy is priceless, David Spade is hilarious and Patrick is great. Bring back this show.
I’ve had the same experience you had just catching the reruns recently. I think it’s great, funny, and definitely one of the better shows on tv other than football. Can’t wait to catch up on all episodes.
