In light of the school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, TLC today shifted its Best Funeral Ever special to January 6. Best Funeral Ever was supposed to air December 27 but will now be broadcast after the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Halloween special next month, the network confirmed today. The one-hour show follows the staff of the Golden Gate Funeral Home as they stage one-of-a-kind themed memorials. The network still may order a full series of the show if the special is successful. TLC’s date change comes as other networks spent the weekend rearranging programming or replacing potentially insensitive shows with repeats in the wake of the fatal events Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The airing of two bad programs back to back next month is just another example of where this network is going..into the toilet!
A show about funerals. Really?
Call me cynical, but this ‘announcement’ had absolutely nothing to do with rescheduling the show because of any kind of sensitivity to the shooting. It was getting ‘so good its bad’ press from other places, so the people at TLC took advantage of it, bumped it to after their most popular show, and rode a cruel wave to get it front and center.
Most other move announcements have just been neutral ‘replaced in this time slot, to be aired on another date’ types this weekend. This one is just crass publicity mentioning what it’s following and just getting in the mention of that other show’s Halloween special to remind us THAT show’s coming back, and TLC should be ashamed of itself for this idiotic .
