The funeral episode hasn’t been filmed or scheduled yet, but TNT says it will
happen at some point during the second season which begins next month. Larry Hagman, who reprised his role as the villainous J.R. Ewing from the original series, worked until his death and is expected to appear in the first six episodes of the 15-episode season. He died from complications of cancer last month while the show was on Thanksgiving break. The second season of Dallas is scheduled to debut on January 28.

Talk about f’in tacky. Stay classy, Hollywood.
Oh chill out. What are they supposed to do? It was an iconic character in an iconic show. He should get a proper sendoff. I am sure that Hagman would be touched by this idea.
Lighten up, “A Large Object is Heading Towards Earth NOW.” There’s no disrespect of Mr. Hagman in this; quite the opposite. J.R. Ewing is one of the most iconic characters in television history. They have to give him an honorable sendoff, especially on his OWN SHOW.
Tacky? Not if the use it to pay tribute to him, as they did 30 years ago when Jim Davis (Jock) died. It was a lovely episode.
Thank you I did not see that show about Jock but I’m sure it was a wonderful tribute…Beth

Tacky? What kind of plausible exit do you suggest? Witness protection with plastic surgery so JR keeps going? Ignore his passing? JR just turns up missing?
Funeral brings closure to the character. If the old cast objected I doubt they would be moving forward.
Do you suggest they just cancel the show? If you feel it’s tacky to honor the actor (which is what they’re doing as the actor & character will be forever entwined), what is your idea?
How could they not give a proper send off to one of TV’s iconic characters? While JR is central to the show, the show can survive without him. It’s not like when the BBC canceled the Sarah Jane Adventures when Elisabeth Sladen passed. She was the title character. JR’s presence can still loom large over the show. If John Ross thinks JR would just leave everything to him with no complications, he’s forgotten just who his father is.
I think another great who shot J.R. would be great except this time it is who killed J.R. They could really roll with this one as they did in the late 70s.
I think a funeral would be a great send off. Then maybe spice things up by having Sue Ellen become pregnant. Possibly having Harris be the father. This would cause some possible jelousy from Ann, which in turn cause tensions between Ann and Bobby.
Uh…….Sue Ellen is 70 years old……not pregnancy age! Whoa!
i think they should ask victoria principle to return as pamela barnes ewing whoever, and thwart her brother & nieces evilous plan to distroy her and bobbys adopted son christopher. also. i think they should bring back bobbys son lucas wade ewing hes the child bobby had with jenna wade played by presilla pressleybringing lucas back would be ideal for christopher. finally i think now jr is gone god bless his soul, they ought to bring back jr`s first child james bolmont ewing john ross`s older brother he was a skeemer like john ross what a evilous team they`d be christopher and lucas ewing vrs james bolmont ewing and john ross ewing. or all for avenging jr`s death and sorting out cliff barnes. my idea`s would put dallas back on top. hope you agree…..?
I think sue ellen is at least 50 by now. A little too old by now. Elaina preggo by harris may cause a jealous ann. There are endless possible scenerios.
sue ellen is 71
I think this show has the potential to be a long lasting show if they bring back family members rivals, all the ewing children, this show could be the most talked about show in the times, the show should be put back to wenesday, its up against dancing with the stars the voice, not a good thing , but mt family loves the show.
I just love watching Dallas! I was very happy that it came back for a 2nd season and I hope a 3rd, too. JR will be deeply missed. I feel that it is the right thing to do by having a funeral for JR to bring closure to his character. I feel that Larry Hagman would be pleased about this. After all, he was the Dallas show. There will NEVER be another JR. I hope that the show can survive without him. I am sure that the good characters will spice the show up!
Dallas 2nd season has really picked up the pace. Writing improving each week. OF COURSE they need to have a proper Send-off for J.R. (Larry Hagman) Are you kidding me??
He was J.R. but Larry Hagman was a terrific person by all accounts and he will be missed!
Need to use a little class in your terminology, I mean…really!
