UPDATE: It turns out the Golden Boy trailer had been put up on YouTube without CBS’ knowledge and has since been been taken down. There is no ETA on when the network will release the first trailer for the show.
PREVIOUS: CBS has released the first extended trailer for midseason drama series Golden Boy. It showcases young British actor Theo James in his first American TV role, sporting a newly acquired New York accent. Golden Boy chronicles the meteoric rise of an ambitious cop (James) who becomes the youngest police commissioner in the history of New York City. The series explores the high personal and professional cost he pays to achieve it as he is mentored by his partner (Chi McBride), a veteran detective. Golden Boy is set to premiere February 26 and air in the Tuesday 10 PM slot for two weeks before moving into its permanent Friday 9 PM berth. Kevin Alejandro, Bonnie Somerville, Holt McCallany and Stella Maeve co-star. Nicholas Wootton wrote the script and executive produces with Greg Berlanti.

Not a great sign when there’s a grammatical mistake in the trailer: “One cops journey.”
Why is James Franco’s doppelgänger doing TV?
If it’s not a straight procedural, I’m interested.
Mixed opinions on Theo James. I expected him to play a much more amiable character, along the lines of Jack Bailey, but still seems decent enough. The danish bit was kind of amusing. Chi McBride is always a treat to watch, so his presence means I will give this a one episode shot. And this is not like me. I very rarely watch dramas.
Det. Doogie Howser.
Nick Wootton is a great guy and he has a keen eye for talent, especially for comic sensibilities that have complex levels. And one of the writes on the show, Jen Corbett, is one of the best young TV writers in the game. I’m watching!!
How many American actors does Britain hire to sport newly acquired Cockney grunts, huh?
Not interested.
Pass. almost something interesting, but seems ultimately like too much mish-mash. i don’t really get it.
It’s just a 4 minute snapshot but more than a little surprised they are burying this on Friday night. I get the “let’s pair it with Blue Bloods” appeal but first glance seems like it has a lot more potential than Friday night at 9PM.
If you think Nick Wootton is a great guy, you apparently never worked under him on NYPD Blue. But congrats on his hiring your client!
I did work with him and you’re way off.
seconded. i was there. the people who got bounced under nick got bounced because they were no-talent frauds. gandhi would have kicked them in the ass on their way out the door.
Such a stupid decision from CBS to put it down. What is the point? You want to sell show to viewers and then you hide trailer from them? I don’t understand that behavior from american channels.
Like why hide and put down like crazy SNL skits from Youtube? People hear about them, americans can see it for free on Hulu and NBC site. And then they hide those skits from all world. It’s not like local channels in whole Europe are buying SNL for their countries and so NBC won’t show them before it will air there. No one shows SNL outside US. And yet they show it for free to american viewers and hide from all other.
…And semi-autobiographical based on the network pitch.
Apparently the writer had a meteoric rise through the ranks of television courtesy of Steven Bochco.
Congrats to Nick, he’s one of the nicest and most talented guys in the business! I wish him the best!
I wonder what Dick Wolf would say about this?
What is the song playing on the trailer for this show?
radioactive imagine dragons
What is the song that says Whispering 3 times during the preview on tv just about everyday. Its not the Radioactive song?
Whispering by Alex Clare.
