UPDATE THURSDAY AM: USA Network officially announced the eighth-season renewal of Psych. The network stopped short of calling it the show’s final season through it is widely considered to be the veteran’s final hurrah. It will be an abbreviated Season 8 consisting of eight episodes.
PREVIOUS WEDNESDAY PM: USA Network’s longest-running series currently on the air will continue to hold that title for at least another season. “What better holiday present to give our fans than to announce #Psych has been picked up for an 8th season! Happy holidays!,” the show’s Twitter feed announced earlier tonight. The pickup comes two months before the seventh season of the USA dramedy is set to premiere February 27. It is unclear whether Season 8 will be Psych‘s last. The upcoming 16-episode seventh season includes the series’ 100th episode as well as a two-hour musical. Psych stars James Roday and Dule Hill and is from Universal Cable Prods in association with Tagline Pictures.

God knows everywhere else in the world , people have such a better TV selection of programs.
I’ll take 5 Psych’s over 1 “Good Wife” any day of the week.
I know that was a weak attempt at a slam (the show pulls solid ratings), but realistically the show was also a pretty big hit for CBS as well, albeit with a worse cast and no sense of humor.
What are “solid ratings” for a network like USA….a two share or something? Ninety-eight percent of the TV sets in use watching something else? What a joke. More people tune in to a high school radio station.
I think Roy is referring to the inferior ripoff The Mentalist.
‘The Mentalist’ isn’t anything like “Psych”. They are both good and different from other cookie-cutter fare.

Haven’t you noticed that the prime time TV shows are awful and offer nothing worth while anymore? Psych is a comedy with a whodunit storyline and character build each week. It has continued to make me laugh each week and thankfully if I miss an episode I can “catch up” with my cable provider. This is the ONLY show I look forward to as many others are so full of themselves. Why have we sold ourselves to cleavage, sex, dirty politics, and blood and guts for our complete entertainment? Wholesome needs to comeback and that’s exactly what PSYCH has established for its viewers. Believe me, I am NOT a prude, but I don’t have to prove it by watching garbage,

With the talent and chemistry of the cast I have total faith. Absolutely not. I live in Denmark, and whilst the show might not be the biggest, it does indeed have quite a few fans around here. And if stuff is playing in little Denmark, I assume the show see success in other countries as well.

Awesome news. A truly great show (which I, unfortunately, cannot see anymore, since ION stuck their head up their butt and took off the Psych marathons on Saturday. Numb3rs? Really, ION?)

Psych has never been on CBS, it did fill a few holes on NBC’s summer schedule a few years ago (while the peacock was suffering from Zuckeritis) and of course ION currently has “Broadcast Exclusive” Repeats in late night and weekends. Hopefully, a few Back2Back repeats will return soon on ION’s Schedule.
You missed the joke completely – Psych has always done Mentalist jokes, and that’s what Roy was referring to.
Eye Candy and pure escapism. Not too many shows left that can be said of.

Just wait – “Psych – The COMPLETE 8TH Season” will cost as much as any “real season” of something else.

I’m a psych-o at heart and I have to admit that I’m sad to see it stop because it is my favorite show. It includes comedy, action, and a great cast. What more could u ask for? I know eight seasons is a lot for USA but I can’t help but wish it would do more…..I will forever love psych and will always be a huge fan of the show. I believe psych will be number one in my heart in television forever. Love u psych cast!!!!

NOOOO!!!!! The show has so much potential! It’s gotten so much better and matured in the last couple seasons. With Yin/Yang arc, Santabarbaratown, Last Night Gus (my favorite episode), Extradition I, II, and III (Indiana Shawn & the Temple of the Kinda Crappy, Rusty Old Dagger). Starting around S4, they’ve toned down the average filler episodes, and made more original, genuInely interesting episodes. Please at least carry it to S10!!! If not, end it “Gilligan’s Island” Style.

I love Psyche. Yes, I like its corniness and wholesome characters. I also am not a prude but like to get away from the usual crap used by most shows whose usual attempts at humor are sexual. That’s all they have. Psyche is very funny. One of the few shows where I laugh out loud. I encourage its continuance.
I seriously hope that the 8th season is not the last one!!! This seres is freaking AMAZING, and is one that hasn’t had the attention it deserves! It’s so sad in a way, it’s filmed in CANADA yet barely anyone up here knows about it!! When will it start airing in Canada so that there can be a few more Canadian Psych-os?
