Another trailer for Les Misérables went up today, this one featuring new footage and Samantha Barks singing “On My Own”:

Man, Tom Hooper has such a bland style. “Joe Wright’s Les Miserables” would have been awesome to see this award season.
Sorry, but I have enjoyed Hooper’s previous work, John Adams, and The King’s Speech. Those presentations don’t come across as,”bland,”but are definitely interesting and enjoyable.
This makes me even more excited for the movie, which I didn’t think was possible.
Seems like Samantha Barks did a fine job, but I wish more actresses who play Eponine would sing the song with more anger rather than pity. Celia Keenan Bolger does a great job of being both pissed off as hell and resigned to a loveless life.
Why does everybody in a French movie have a British accent? Why can’t they make them have a French accent???
That’s how everyone speaks in France, Thomas, they put on that fake “Ooh la-la, enchanté moniseur” hand kissing crap only for American tourists and… Okay, it’s to do with diction. It’s very easy to do a really bad French accent but hard to maintain a credible one and be understood in as many territories as possible. Besides, the film is monstrously long as it is so there’s no point in making the experience any worse.
Once again the best is saved for last….Samantha Barks is outstanding and as with the stage musical, her role will practically steal the movie from the bigger named stars. I cannot wait…
