it’s like ironmanzilla!
So…LEGENDARY….the company behind this…
is also producing the new GODZILLA.
Seems like any audience after this will be “been there done that”
Maybe they need the expensive FX to be shared costs in order to cut overhead??
Maybe they figure giant monsters are the new zombies?
I didn’t realize dude had been making a videogame for the last year and a half. Won’t need to see that in the theater.
Just sad…
Battleship meets Real Steel. Pass.
Holy sh*t, yes.
This looks absolutely incredible, can’t wait.
ah, godzilla/mothra/whatever vs ultraman? is it a toy commercial? i don’t get it…
Looks totally ridiculous…
And I am totally going to go see it.
In 3-D!
That looks dope.
This looks slightly worse than BATTLESHIP.
Holy f*** that looks terrible.
VOLTRON meets GODZILLA?
Uninspired, unexciting, unoriginal
I agree – looks very meh. I’ll skip, but I’m sure lots of Transformers fans will turn out – won’t surprise me if this is a big hit.
Nice to see an Asian woman with a major role in a big film – Rinko Kikuchi from Norweigian Wood. Good for her.
Looks like 24 with robots.
How is that 24 with robots? Because a dour blond white guy does the VO?
Wow, i hope the movie doesn’t overuse the shit out of that low horn sound like this trailer just did. Holy COW!
It’s got Idris. So I’m goin’.
O. M. G!!!!
Fuck yeah!
Looks like this year’s “Battleship”. I’d expect this from Roland Emmerich but Del Toro?
Battleship was this year’s Battleship.
Gorgo meets the new warfare technology…
Underwhelming. Still don’t think this merits “tentpole” status. Sticking with my original projection. It’s going to do Battleship numbers – flatline in the USA and make it up overseas.
This. Robots boxing giant lizards can be a movie, fine, but a gigantic quarter billion tentpole? WHY? This is a one-quadrant movie, for crying out loud.
It’s like Abraham Lincoln fighting vampires. Sure, that’s a great B movie, make it nice and gory and campy for 20M or less, why in God’s name try to make it a big 100M event film? I just get so tired of watching studios spending billions to appease the fanboys.
You’re aware that Transformers is a HUGE FRANCHISE, right?
Same audience.
Get a clue. They’re going to PRINT MONEY on this one.
You also realise that Transformers ALREADY had a fanbase before the first film. That film traded on dumb ’80s nostalgia, so what relationship does the “same audience” have to this franchise?
It’s also the same audience as BATTLESHIP. Get a clue.
This movie will be huge for sure. There are a lot of people who are not fanboys talking about this. Probably get big push and looks way cooler then Battle Ship. You knew BattleShip was going to fail as soon as you heard about it. This looks good.
One word easily sank Battle Ship before it released:
Rihanna.
As for this movie, Del Toro has a huge fan-base on the internet–and they act much like Apple fanbois.they’ll like it regardless if the acting & story sucks (ILM did the Sfx, so they’ll be fine)… it’s fantasy (make up the freakin story in your head…).
But this is a basic and true Sci-Fi summer movie and Toro’s going to need to pull out ALL the stops to make a story understandable w/o the fantasy, “fill in the blanks and backstory” context. That’s why the fanboys are giving this trailer epic reviews. Otherwise, I see JOHN CARTER written all over this due to the weaker screenwriting and cast.
CANNOT WAIT!!!! Love GDT and love the actors he cast!!! He wasn’t lying – those are HUGE monsters!!
Del Toro’s doing Transformers 4?
There are no words…. for how awful this looks.
1000% agree.
Just awful. I’m speechless at how bad this trailer is…
real steel meets transformers? no thanks
You can’t write off a director this talented. Still, the world may have seen enough of alien invasions for a while.
Looks as corny as I expected it would. I want to be excited about Del Toro again. Booooo.
Is it me or is there a sci-fi overload coming next year? Pacific Rim, After Earth, Oblivion, Star Trek..
It’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top.
Star Trek, next question …
