The online revival of cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live is officially just months away.
Rich Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz’s Prospect Park today announced a distribution agreement with Hulu and iTunes that will bring the soaps to fans beginning this Spring. Prospect Park recently cleared the last major hurdle for the soaps’ online revival, reaching agreements with SAG-AFTRA, WGA, and DGA. The company also closed its financing with ABRY Partners and has entered into a consulting agreement with All My Children and One Life To Live creator Agnes Nixon. Prospect Park also recently announced more deals with cast members and production executives. You can read today’s release below:

Starting this spring, viewers can stream the beloved serial dramas “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” on the free Hulu.com service and the Hulu Plus subscription service. New 30-minute episodes of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” will be introduced each weekday. This innovative content deal will re-introduce these venerable daytime hits in a new format perfect for the viewing habits of the digital generation. Prospect Park and TOLN plan to blend new themes, fresh stars and youthful energy with the familiar actors and writers who made these shows must-watch afternoon viewing for legions of loyal fans.

Hulu will manage the advertising sales for both shows, and package integrated sponsorship opportunities. TOLN will also offer ecommerce and other digital marketing programs to brands and entities looking to tap into Hulu’s mass market demographic. Additionally, Hulu will promote both series across its subscription and free-to-view platforms.
Under the leadership of Kwatinetz and Rich Frank, Prospect Park in 2011 forged a multi-year, multi-platform licensing agreement with Disney/ABC Domestic Television Group to continue production of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live.” Prospect Park has also entered into a consulting agreement with Agnes Nixon, the creator of both series, guaranteeing her active involvement in their continued production. “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” ended their runs on ABC Television in September, 2011 and January, 2012, respectively.
Earlier in this month, Prospect Park announced guild agreements with Hollywood’s major labor groups, the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and the Directors Guild of America. The company also finalized a deal with the Writer’s Guild of America.

hello, future.
It will be interesting to see how many people actually cough up the cash to view the soaps. Most soap fans are old school and probably won’t adapt well to a pay model. With 4 episodes a week, how many people are actually going to pay $200 plus a year to watch them?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but where did the figure of $200.00 come from? A one-year subscription to HuluPlus is $95.88 and you get a lot more access than just the soaps mentioned. They will even be available on the free platform…
You’re right. The person who posted above you needs to read more thoroughly.
My mom has watched these soaps daily since the ’60s and has no problem with shelling out $10 a month for Hulu Plus. She’s thinking of canceling her cable anyway.
I think viewers will pay. But Hulu is a free service, even if you pay for HuluPlus it only comes out to $96 a year. Itunes would probably be a more expensive option. The good thing about HuluPlus you can see alot of shows from the networks. I cancelled my cable because it was getting more expensive and crap to watch, paid so much to watch Soapnet and few other channels..
Get Hulu you will love it!!
Hulu Plus costs $7.95 per month and hulu is free. A person who has one of the newer smart TV’s will not need to buy any additional equipment and I believe this would be true for anybody with a WII, a computer, a laptop, an Ipad, or an Xbox. I already pay for these services so it will work for me but anybody who can get onto a computer should be able to also. I miss my soaps and will pay $100.00 per year to see them. I do not pay for HBO, Showtime, Movie Channel or any other pay channels so I can justify it.
i don’t think you pay for it, it says it going to be on hulu for free
I’m happy for the soap fans!
Now somebody get CBS to let them do a Star Trek series. Preferably Netflix (who CBS is establishing a nice working relationship with). Regardless of who does it, there are a couple million people at least who will pay for more Star Trek. It’s never going to get back on broadcast TV and probably not cable the way things are going, unless it’s an animated series for the kiddies.
Due to the ongoing film series of STAR TREK, it’s unlikely there wil be any other projects.
Netflix was working with CBS Television Studios to bring bak JERCHIO but talks failed when CBS wouldn’t give them a better deal for the library deal.
Personally, I don’t see how this is going to be profitable for Prospect, but I wish them the best of luck.
It is profitable because online shows cost a fraction of what a network show cost and they will more then likely charge a fee to the online service which means they will make the profit off the membership subscription.
I’d definitely pay to watch another Star Trek series-DEFINITELY! Regarding these soaps-how exactly will they make money? I mean,if it’s available for free on one Hulu platform-why would anyone pay to watch it on another?
Hulu, free – with ads
Hulu Plus, paid – no ads
Make sense now?
“Hulu, free – with ads
Hulu Plus, paid – no ads
Make sense now?”
Hulu plus, paid with just as many adds
There is ads with paid service
Yes HuluPlus has ads but rather quick ads (what seems seconds), the free Hulu I think are little longer, but old episodes don’t stay on site for long. HuluPlus for the most part keeps all the episodes the whole season plus.
Great selection of new shows, old shows, movies etc
I can’t wait for All my Children to come back! I don’t care how much it costs!
I started watching All My Children in the 70′s and never stopped until it was cancelled. I miss it terribly. I am so thrilled that it is coming back!! Thank you Agnes! I would pay to watch my beloved AMC!! This only goes to prove that wishes do come true!
I would imagine it would be like this:
Hulu free – last 5 episodes available.
Hulu plus – all episodes available.
Plus the free version of Hulu doesn’t wok on tablets, smart phones, smart TVs, or streaming boxes.
Yeah, not as good a deal free but I guess I will still watch it. They should make a deal with Amazon so I could download it to my TIVO, now THAT I would pay for.
How long ’til these two soap operas are cancelled again? Six months? This reminds me of when “Passions” went to DirectTV. Once the broadcasting platform went away, so did most of the already-tiny audience.
I agree 100%. I’d be stunned if these soaps have any shelf life on the internet with no traditional TV partner. I have a funny feeling that soap fans should be very careful what they wish for. These soaps’ legacies would be better off if they stayed cancelled, especially AMC if Susan Lucci does not come back.
This has “failure” written all over it.
Sorry, but no traditional TV outlet (cable, syndication, other) = virtually no chance in my book. Anyone who thinks otherwise is living in fantasy land. I just cannot imagine enough older (the core of the daytime soap audience) and casual (the ones Prospect Park will have to attract to have any chance of this getting off the ground and making $$$) viewers going out of their way to watch these abominations-in-the-making on a small computer screen. Outside of the rabid die hards, I don’t see enough casual mainstream people interested enough, regardless of comments made by the small sample here. The large, silent majority of people who watched at one time or another on ABC have long since moved on to other routines, don’t care anymore, and haven’t for a long time.
You wrote a book? Haha. Shut up, “abominations in the making”. Get with the times. The reason it got this far is because so many people want their soaps back. Who are you to criticize anyone for what they watch? Soaps are, in the very least, no worse than the crap they put on TV now. They’ve been around since the radio era, where you are still stuck, in between writing your book nobody would ever want to read.
I would sooooooo watch online soaps over reality tv any day.
I kinda agree with you, but not in the aspect that “no one” will watch them, but more by the fact that I don’t see Prospect Park making enough $$ to make this work out in the long run.
I don’t think making “commissions” off an optional membership is going to cut it…
But who knows. Personally, I am not getting excited.
I agree! I was so excited about OLTL ans AMC coming back. Just wenton ITunes and it is .99 an episode!
I sooooo hope that the shows will succeed in this new online format. What I think would really make them work is if they were able to air them on soapnet as well as online..
Agreed, they should partner up with Soapnet. It will give viewers an alternate to watch these soaps. Though I like Huluplus because I would not be tied to a time schedule to watch these shows, with huly I can watch it at any time of the day and re-watch those episodes anytime. Soapnet being a soap opera network I am not sure why it did not try to bring over some of the shows that network television cancelled over the years like Guiding Light, Anothe World, As The World Turns, Passions, etc. Millions of viewers were already built in why not bring them along to your network? I like soapnet, but did not like there format of re-running to death some of the night dramas like One Tree Hill, BH 90210, and Gilmore Girls, shows are good but not to fill you whole timeslots….Would have loved to have seen a variety of old soaps and new soaps..
Soapnet supposedly is being replaced with a Disney Preschool channel, last I heard, anyway. Which is probably why it didn’t pick up the canceled soaps.
There are a myriad of ways to watch hulu on a TV. The only people watching hulu on small computer screens are those who choose to.
With a laptop you can even watch for free.
EXACTLY,You can connect most computers to the regular TV. Soap fans are very loyal. I’m sure it will be a success. Also, they’ll make money from the ads.
All of the negative arguments are good ones. However, I suspect there were very similar sentiments when television was new and programming was shifting from radio (“Who’s going to buy a television set when you already have a radio?), when cellular phones were new (“Who’s going to carry a telephone”), cars, etc (“I have a great horse!”)…
:/ I don’t even know what to say. I anticipated they were going to end up on a cable network as well. Or is it still possible that they may in conjuncture with this HULU/Itunes online revival?
I can’t watch because of my internet connection and the same goes for my parents. My grandparents don’t even know how to use a computer (and they’re sick and elderly). They really would enjoy seeing One Life To Live and All My Children return. Please consider airing AMC and OLTL on a cable channel too, so we all can watch.
Yes, I agree, I have the same issue…
It would cost me $64 a month just to watch OLTL…
And that’s not even buying the Hulu Plus membership… I don’t have any access to a better connection because of my location…
Oh well
I agree Soapnet should have brought much of the older cancelled soaps on board when they changed their programming to repeating the newer One Tree Hill and such then many of the viewers fell off. Why change most of the programming to that? Is that really a “soap”?
Yeah, I was hoping they would air and on soapnet from the beginning after abc cancelled it.
Lets give the soaps a chance with hulu, at least they are trying to give us back our beloved soaps that millions of us miss.
hulu luv u babe, basic hulu is free. i will be there with bells on. thank u so very much.
I hate reality tv!!! Bring back my soaps!!! They were my escape from the real world!! I am so happy they are coming back!!! Oh and Dallas is back too!!! Hooray for soaps!!!!
Actually, I sent a e-mail to Hulu asking them when All My Children would be starting and someone answered saying that they weren’t going to be carrying the show. Someone got their facts screwed up!!!! I’m just happy that I was able to get a free three month trial. I only signed up because I read they were going to carry All My Children.
I am glad for the fans of amc and oltl , but please leave todd, starr, and john on general hospital. one life to live has been of the air for over a year. they are now part of general hospital leave them were they belong. if you cant figure out I am a general hospital fan
Leave Todd on General Hospital, but please, please, please bring Victor back! Help him escape from crazy Allison!
Thank you Prospect Park and Hulu.
How can i watch one life to live online. I am not computer litterate at all in this area. Can you help me? I do not want to miss oltl ever I miss it very much anymore sorry, I corrected my comment spelling and keyboard was not working.
Keep posted on when it comes out via prospect hill or hulu. You can watch it on hulu.com for free. You can also connect many devices to the TV such as a laptop. Just ask best buy what adapter you will need so you can watch it on TV through the internet. Hope that helps
It is super easy to watch online. Just type in Hulu, and search for the soap you want. As soon as they start airing, you will be able to start watching!! That’s how I watch a lot of shows because I never have time to watch tv. I promise you will figure this out, I’m no techy either. So glad you are getting your soaps back. I watch GH, so I’m good still. I watch it on Hulu.
Before you make a comment, you should know your facts. It is free to view these soaps on Hulu .com
Bring it back to daytime tv
Can I access Hulu on my laptop free? This will be my only way to view them.
