Agnes Nixon, creator of both All My Children and One Life To Live, chimed in tonight with her approval of Prospect Park‘s plans to resurrect the canceled ABC soaps. On her blog and on Facebook, Nixon wrote, “We of the One Life to Live and All My Children families are thrilled to bring our beloved viewers new, ongoing stories from Llanview and Pine Valley.” It’s believed to be the first time Nixon has said anything publicly about Prospect Park’s second attempt to bring the soaps back online. “I’m especially grateful to Prospect Park for deploying the power of you, our fans, to enable this exciting transition to dramatic production for the Internet. It’s a historic moment, comparable to how life was changed when television took over for radio.” Prospect Park has secured agreements with SAG-AFTRA and DGA but is expected to forgo an accord with the Writers Guild and use “financial core” writers who opt for reduced membership status. Details remain scarce but AMC alum Vincent Irizarry (Dr. David Hayward) has agreed to return as has Lindsay Hartley (who played Cara Martin). Nixon did not say whether she will play a part in the soaps’ resurrection.

Today is AMC’s birthday. Happy bday Erica
You are right! Happy 43rd BIRTHDAY AMC!!
This has made my day! I love me some OLTL and cried during the last episode. With it being on the internet and then possibly on cable, it can break some more barriers.
The fans believed in Agnes Nixon’s vision as did Prospect Park. We never stopped contacting people and showed the loyalty of soap opera fans. I look forward to future visits to Pine Valley and One Life To Live !
I’ll believe that these shows are back when I see them!
BTW, Prospect Park should also, besides showing these shows online, syndicate them to local TV stations.
I’m sure there are general managers and program directors of quite a few TV stations whose daytime lineups of syndicated shows aren’t doing well at the moment and would love to pick-up these shows!
I agree with you many stations suffer and those ABC affiliates that carried Regis, Oprah, ET than you sandwich them in with AMC, OLTL…No Regis, No Oprah, No Mary Hart, No Erica Kane and No Vikki Lord. for the last 25-30 yrs these names are staples and the new flock of talent isn’t nothing to write home about.
i am very exicited to hear that they may finally be bring back 2 of my favorite soaps. i have missed oltl & amc so much. having some of the characters on GH is great but not as great as having all the others back. i miss the Bachans, lords.krammer women, martins and mostly Erica Kane. i am lookig forward
I’m sorry to burst everyone’s bubble but…how naieve could you guys be? Everything is coming out in bits and pieces just like last time. Call me when they have all their ducks ina row. What do you guys expect from a company whose inittals are “pp”?
I hope you bring both all my children and one life to live back to tv as well as the internet thank you of Prospect Park
I’m glad that Prospect Park came to their senses and ressurected AMC & OLTL. I hope that they picked up where they left off. On AMC, did JR really shoot Erica? On OLTL, will everyone know that Victor is really alive? I hope we find out soon.
Will this be online as well as TV?
Will this be on all cable TV or is th
there going to be extra cost?
Will the shows be on at different
times or only a certain time.
When will the actual show begin
and with most of the characters
as before. This is wonderful
news because I am a dedicated
fan of both soaps.
As for AMC, call up Sarah michelle Gellar if Alicia Minshew’s not on board. Kendall the villain-yeah!!
when are you all going to bring all my children and on life to live back on tv i wish you all would
This is it.
This is something we’ve really dreamed of-”All My Children” and “One Life To Live” coming back from the dead! =D
This is true soap opera Theatrics, It will probably be just a dream for one year and then they’re back, Can’t wait…
My Daughter just called and broke this news. I couldn’t take the call, all she said was “I have Great News For You”, I was shocked when I called her back. I just started googling. These stories have been part of my life since they started. I started watching OLTL and AMC when I was 13/14 years old. It was such a sad day to loose all of my friends at one time. I watch GH faithfully. Happy to see any of the crossover stories that they have from OLTL. This is the best news. I will continue to be a loyal fan and I will figure out whatever it takes to be able to watch on the internet.
Thanks, keep up the great work Prospect Part, I wish you all of the success that ABC lost when they cancelled these wonderful stories from all of our lives.
Let’s hope it’s true. These were always great show, replaced with crappy talk shows. If ABC did not want to have this on the network, should have transferred them to SOAPNET. Instead of getting rid of great show all the soaps should probably be migrated here…So many great shows gone last few years. Passions, Guiding Light, As The Worlds Turns, Another World, etc. Probably could have saved cost and maybe changed them to half hour formats on SOAPNET.
Who knows if this format works, just like soap opera characters coming back from the dead, some of these shows can be resurrected as well.
Tears of JOY at the news that All My Children will actually be returning!!!! I never thought it would happen. I have been watching reruns on Direct TV soapnet ever since the show’s last episode…and was extremely grateful to at least have that to watch. I even switched from Comcast to Direct TV because Comcast cancelled soapnet…and I just had to have my All My Children, even if it was the reruns! I cannot WAIT to start watching it again on the internet. THANK YOU to Prospect Park and everyone else who is making this happen!!!!!!!
Thrilled that both shows may be back.
AMC has been my “constant” during many moves. When I lived in Puerto Rico, it kept me connected.
I think it great it will be on the internet. My parents became AMC fans. I hope that they will make DVD’s of the new series. It will help the older audience!
Really, really looking forward to having the best Soap Opera’s
returning!! And really hoping not to be dissapointed again, it’s
painful..
The soap opera is a dying genre of daytime broadcast television. Although I would never totally discount the possibility of a renaissance of any entertainment format, the factors that contributed to the success of daytime dramas or “soaps,” namely– an abundant middle-class affluence, with a majority of two-parent homes in which the female head of household was in the home during the daytime, are unlikely to ever be present again.
Even before “All My Children” was canceled by ABC-TV, it had been terribly written and with mostly poor actors the last decade of its existence, performers with more modeling than acting experience on their resumes.
Actually, the heyday of daytime drama was 1965-75, and the CBS soaps (“As The World Turns,” “The Edge Of Night,” “The Guiding Light,” “Love Of Life,” “Search For Tomorrow,” and “The Secret Storm”) the best of them all, its casts comprised of actors and actresses with much actual stage experience to their credits. ABC soaps had always catered/pandered to a less-educated, less-affluent demographic of viewers.
“Another World” on NBC was of a caiber closer to the CBS soaps, though, created by Irna Phillips and produced by Procter & Gamble, the folks who put the “soap” in soap opera.
Keep Mcbain, Todd and Starr on General Hospital! That’s just ridiculous taking them off.
your right g.h. should keep them and put oltl amc back on ABC WHATS wrong with ABC
Without our original Walt Willy and Susan Lucci and Opal it can’t be the same. Will any original players be back except wicked David? If not leave it alone so the original player’s are our last remembrance. They ruined everything. I will never watch those replacement shows. All of my family died when I was 17. I grew up with and lived the years with AMC. To do this to faithful viewers was a slap in the face. Shame on you. The damage has been done unless All OUR Children come back.!!!!!!!!
