The original Batmobile used in the 1966-68 Batman TV series sold tonight at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction for $4.6 million including fees. Bidding lasted about 4 minutes and the winning bid was $4.2 million before fees were assessed. The car’s customizer-owner George Barris had put the car up for bids last month. Barris bought the 1955 Lincoln Futura Concept car for $1 from the Ford Motor Co. and was given $15,000 and 15 days to gadgetize the handmade 19-foot two-seater. Some observers had predicted the car would sell for as much as $5 million. And even though $4.6 million is a lot, Barrett-Jackson’s Twitter feed said a Shelby Cobra that once sold for $5.5 million holds the record.

Excellent. I just saw it in his shop.
It wouldn’t of meant as much if it were from the newer films. Personally, if I had tons of cash I’d try to create ones out that were used in the comics. Like the one being used in the Batman comics right now. It would be quite a challenge.
Best one ever… It’s the day glow orange pinstripes… When you see it in person, that detail just pops the car to life. Plus it’s street legal. Turn signals and all.
Hope it stays in USA. Wish WB just bought it–
