Now it’s officially over. After Fox‘s freshman Ben & Kate was pulled from the schedule earlier this week, production on the low-rated comedy is wrapping today with 15 filmed episodes. The series will not complete its 19-episode order as the network had previously suggested. The fate of the remaining 2 unaired episodes remains unclear, with a summer burnoff the most likely scenario.

This makes me very sad…..
Pilot had such promise…
This was a show?
i am devastated
It had the most annoying leads in the history of television. are we hitting the bottom of the pit?? are you kidding me?? these people pass as stars??? wow????
REALLY funny show and the cast has great chemistry. It will be missed!
Makes sense not completing the episode order. I mean, why even bother filming more episodes if it’s already been canceled. I hope they eventually air the rest of the episodes either on tv or online. It would be a nice gesture for fans of that program.
The problem with this show was that it tried to do too much for too many people. The simple fact is, people either like their comedy to be slapstick or dry, but not both! So the hodgepodge of characters on the show were destined to annoy audiences. Personally, I think that Lucy Punch’s character was what made this show absolutely unwatchable for me… But Nat Faxon isn’t the most likable character in the world, either…
That’s what Lucy Punch does.
Happy we got at least 15 episodes out of this gem. Fingers crossed they air the remaining ones… Also, whomever marketed the show by putting bubble gum in front of Kate’s face on every billboard needs to be demoted.
I hate you FOX. I really do.
Well, it’s sad, but at least this frees up the cast and crew right as pilot season is gearing up. Best of luck to all of them.
The pilot stunk…
Fox should’ve paired Ben and Kate with a different line up. Raising Hope as a lead on was a horrible strategy, two completely different types of comedy. Ben and Kate had the most talented, improv actors that made every word and feeling feel real and relatable. Sad news…
You apparently have no talent or do not work in this industry. These Ben and Kate’s actors were top notch, especially Lucy Punch.
Good riddance. Next on the chopping block: The Mindy Project.
If Kevin Reilly wants to save his job, it’s time for him to put a bit of stick about.
Nice job throwing up-and-comer Nat Faxon into such a horrible show.
The old attitude, “we gotta sign this guy…(to any piece of sh–).”
He was great in commercials, he would be a bigger breakout star if any one could write a decent series for him.
It was better than Happy Hour and Allen Gregory.
The sad thing is, he was in a pilot called Phil Hendrie, which is a shame that it never got picked up. That was really funny.
Hey, if Tom Hanks can survive Bosom Buddies, I’d say any halfway decent actor can survive a bad sitcom earlier in their career.
F u fox I hope all your shows fail
I agree.
I will never understand the hate this show gets from some people.
It was easily the best comedy pilot of the season, which turned into the best new comedy by a mile. Admittedly, it helps that every other comedy this season was simply awful, but it was still a decent show.
It failed largely because Fox had no idea how to market it, so no-one watched the show from day one. To their credit, Fox knew it and tried their best to support the show for as long as they felt they could.
Compare that with something like Go On, which had every opportunity in the world to succeed — a huge lead-in, a star lead, a heavy Olympic promotion push, monster initial ratings — and completely squandered it, with viewers disappearing in droves thanks to its terrible tonally-confused structurally-messy over-stuffed writing. Where’s the deserve hate for that failure?
The difference is Go On is FUNNY! It has jokes! It is character based.
It seems like everything in Ben and Kate is just saying words repeatedly, in different awkward ways. I tried watching the most recent episode, they spent a minute on Kate saying hi. I am not even kidding.
Its about time Fox! this show sucked!!!!
It was definitely more sweet-funny than funny-funny but DAMN people, why all the hate?
I’m always sad to see a production based in L.A. go down, but really, is anybody surprised? Actors tried valiantly but the writing just wasn’t there. Fox comedy is hurting, and the drama their drama development is pathetic. So sorry for the crew.
I blame Nate’s bad teeth. C’mon, they were awful!
Tnanks GEOFF STULTS anything with you in it gets canned fox really hates you first the finder now this?
This was, by far, my favorite TV show of 2012. I think the combo of Lucy Punch, Echo Kellum, Nat Faxon, and Dakota Johnson was incredible. Laughed out loud during every episode. The show should not be cancelled. C’mon. Their hijinx were hilarious. They fished for balls in a pond! They used their neighbors house to throw a party! The episode where Dakota Johnson had to talk to the principal was gold! I am saddened that the show is done. Fingers are crossed that FOX will air the episodes online. If not, they are playing a cruel, cruel game.
