At a PBS panel on the American Masters series, Mel Brooks — the subject of an upcoming documentary — said that he is thinking about turning his movie Blazing Saddles into his next Broadway musical. “A lot of it is musical already,” Brooks said. “It has a rather fanciful and fantastic tone to it. and now that Django Unchained has literally used the N word, I think I’m in the clear. I don’t look so bad. He really used that word a lot.”

THIS JUST IN: Spike Lee officially announces retro-ban on classic Mel Brooks film “Blazing Saddles”; Spike admits he’s never seen the film, but if it’s a western, and it has the N-word, and people are laughing, then dammit that ain’t funny.
In other news, Broadway rehearsals continue as planned for “Roots: The Musical”, starring Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane.
Might as well now also make Spaceballs 2: The Quest for More Money.
A chorus of farts.
I am African American, Blazing Saddles is one of my favorite movies. Spike Lee need to get somewhere and sit down. His movies are not the positive movies when it comes to shedding light on Afican Americans. Malcolm X was his only movie that was not negative. Everyone is going to have an opinion about something. My thing is Blazing Saddle and Django are movies, it is entertainment. No I am not saying it is ok to use the “N” word. But who is going to say the “N” word 200 times in a day? Once again it is entertainment. Stop being so serious about everything. What has Spike Lee done lately any way?
He must make this. It could give The Book Of Mormon a fun for its money
