EXCLUSIVE: CBS‘ annual Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials special, now in its 13th year, will air on January 30, four days before Super Bowl XLVII, which also airs on CBS. It will be broadcast from the home of this year’s big game, Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans. CBS Sports’ NFL analyst Boomer Esiason, who made his debut as co-host on last year’s special, is back, joined by Aisha Tyler, co-host of CBS’ daytime talk show The Talk. She succeeds The Biggest Loser‘s Jillian Michaels who emceed last year. After experimenting with ranking the greatest Super Bowl commercial brands last year, the special returns to its original format of grading individual commercials.
Viewers once again will get to vote for their favorite Super Bowl commercial of all time. Beginning today, the top 12 vote-getters from the past decade of Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials, including Adriana Lima’s Victoria’s Secret spot and E*Trade’s Trading Baby, will go head-to-head on CBS’ site, where fans will be able to vote via Facebook and Twitter to determine the top three Super Bowl commercials of all time. Those commercials will advance to the live vote during the broadcast, with the winning ad revealed at the end of the show. Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials 2013 is being produced by IMG Media, Juma Entertainment and Robert Dalrymple Prods. Robert Horowitz and Steve Mayer are the executive producers. As for this year’s crop of Super Bowl commercials, according to reports, CBS’ available slots have been virtually sold out at record rates of up to $3.8 million for a 30-second spot.
