UPDATED: Will Chuck Lorre have four series on CBS next fall? It certainly looks that way, with veteran Two And A Half Men eying an 11th season renewal.
“We’ve told (Two And A Half Men producer) Warner Bros. TV that we would like to have a 11th season,” CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler said at TCA this morning. “They’re equally interested.” With the cast’s deals up at the end of the season, including star Ashton Kutcher, and the latest controversy surrounding Angus T. Jones, many have speculated that the show may call it a day after 10 seasons, a high-profile leading man switch from Charlie Sheen to Kutcher and a ton of tabloid headlines.
But, after a slowish start, Men has been thriving in its new Thursday 8:30 PM, hitting season highs. And Lorre this week indicated that all has been forgiven with Jones, who is returning to work next week with a meaty new storyline featuring Emmy winner Jaime Pressly as his “cougar” love interest. “He’s part of our show. He’s part of our family. We love him… He’s 19, man. Cut him some slack,” Lorre said on Wednesday.
This morning, Tassler echoed Lorre’s sentiment. “We’d like him to be part of (the show) next year, I think he would like to come back too, and Chuck and Warner Bros. would do too,” she said on stage. She later continued: “You know what, the kid is 19 years old, OK? I’ve got a 24-year-old. Between the ages of 19 and 24, there have been plenty of things my kid has said that I wish he hadn’t. But I think the bottom line is, cooler heads prevailed. He’s been a beloved member of that cast for years and years. He issued a public apology. At the end of the day, they want him back, he wants to come back, he’s tabling next week, and that’s it. And we move on.”
With CBS on board, Warner Bros. now faces renegotiations with Kutcher, who doesn’t have a deal beyond this season, along with Jon Cryer and Jones. If Men is renewed, Lorre will likely have four series on CBS last fall: Men, The Big Bang Theory, Mike & Molly and newbie Mom, which is now at the pilot stage with Anna Faris cast as the lead. And an 11th season of Men may not be its last, Tassler suggested. “You know we have such a crazy success story in terms of our long-running shows, who knows?,” she said. “We’ll see.”

Why wouldn’t they be interested, it’s a cash-cow.. just ditch the kid.
Because “Two Men” sounds too gay for the nation’s nutjobs.
I was a fan of the show until that awful musical number on Thursday. Just end the show.
Yeah, me and my wife usually watch this show, and this season has just been a train-wreck. The love story was just uncomfortable and the ending song was just horrible.
If the main character switch wasn’t a shark jump, the song was like jumping a grand canyon “full of sharks with fricking lasers on their heads”.
Just wince inducing. The show deserves better, and the long suffering fans do to. Chloroform this show before it becomes more of a joke.
Why are you even watching this show if you don’t like it? That’s why it’s numbers are so high; people who don’t even like the show are still watching!
Well, another year I won’t be watching this repulsive piece of trash masquerading as a tv “comedy”.
Amen. Lorre is TV’s Colonel Sanders. Ubiquitous and schlock for the masses. And speaking of buckets, Nina, “at the end of the day,” how ’bout resorting to a less hammered into the ground cliche? A note to a network head. Now I can scratch that off my BUCKET list.
There must be an industry term for a show’s ability to retain big audiences beyond its original artistic merit – say, its period of “uncritical demand”. Friends entered that period after about six seasons, The Big Bang Theory entered it when the characters got too old for their antics, and Two and a Half Men, which has been witty as well as obscene, entered it when Charlie Sheen was fired.
I wonder when CBS and Warners will resort to the Cousin Oliver strategy.
2.5 Men is as tired as anything on TV right now. Nothing like a cute young kid to revive ratings.
Honey Boo Boo, perhaps? Nah, that would be too highbrow.
I try to watch every episode I can on Hulu.
Once that fool Kutcher took over, that show officially jumped the shark and the storylines are all over the place…oh hell, it can’t be any worse than 2 Broke Girls though.
On a positive note, my husband and I enjoyed the musical number, it had us laughing. For the most part, we have been watching this season faithfully. Ashton is fun and has joined right in rather well. I am glad to see that Lorre does realize Angus is still a kid. That age can be so easily led on. As a mom I hope someone is there to help guide him, help keep him from being used. Much easier said than done. I do have one question…. Did the character of Alan lose his practice?
Go ahead and disagree with me… But know that there obviously are others like me out there that do still enjoy the show. There is a lot of room for improvement, I have made suggestions before.
If you do not like the show then do not watch it. If you do like the show. Have fun laughing and enjoying it with us!
Sorry, but there’s just nothing to laugh about in this sorry “piece of trash” excuse for a sitcom.
I have to agree. maybe there could be a few ajustments, but vcom on
I enjoy the show and the great characterizations
Most characters deserve an A or B, but please write out the character Zoey, as I see zero entertainment value there.
What the hell..get the NEW SHOW ON THE AIR WITH BRAND NEW..PEOPLE!!!!
PAY them all the same AMOUNT!!!
WE NEED NEW PEOPLE ON TV!!!!!!!
No one here is mentioning if the characters who plays Berta and the MOM is coming back or not..what about the character who plays Rose…is she coming back..
they should change the characters..Jon Cryer should play “charlies old position”
Ashton should play Jon Cryers character
Jon cryer should be paid way more then Ashton..He has been there since day 1
Chuck PLEASE think about doing another “Roseanne” type show! That show is doing better in2 syndication than most new shows 2day! Also we need that kind of feel good, middle class / paycheck 2 paycheck, “original modern family” with a sassy mom type comedy. Not only because so many of us could relate 2 it 2day because that’s how we’re living but also to bring back the comfort of the 80s-90s generation where we didn’t really how good things were going for us & our family’s until we get to Y2K+ and understand the true meanings of inflation & bring broke! Please please please please please please please please consider it!! =) Thank you! -A True Fan
