We Bought A Zoo co-star Colin Ford has become the first actor cast in Under The Dome, a 13-episode series from Steven Spielberg and Stephen King to air this summer. Based on King’s bestselling 2009 novel, the series is set in Chester’s Mill, a small New England town suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The town’s inhabitants must deal with surviving the post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers to what this barrier is, where it came from and if and when it will go away. Ford will play Joe, a teenager living in Chester’s Mill, a very smart kid who’s understandably freaked out when he discovers that the mysterious barrier covers the whole town — and both his parents are outside of it. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo helmer Niels Arden Oplev is directing the first episode from a script by Brian K. Vaughan. Spielberg’s Amblin Television, which developed the project, co-produces with CBS TV Studios. Neal Baer serves as showrunner. DreamWorks’ Stacey Snider is executive producing with Spielberg, King, Baer, Vaughn, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank. In addition to playing Matt Damon’s teen son in We Bought A Zoo, Ford, repped by UTA and Management 360, played Young Sam Winchester on the CW’s Supernatural, recently guest starred on NBC’s Revolution and voices the title character on the Disney Jr. animated series Jake And The Never Land Pirates.

He was great on Revolution the leader of a group of kids, struggling to survive. Under The Dome was smart to snap him up.
Cute!
This series is DOMED to fail.
Sorry.
That’s a domed stupid thing to say.
Next?
Awww, nice to see wee Sammy Winchester getting more work. Seriously, I’m happy for him.
I hope they keep the plot point when Homer’s illegal dumping causes Springfield to be domed off.
It would be awesome if “The Simpsons Movie” was playing on one of the character’s TV’s right as the dome came down.
When are the network announcing pilot pick ups for dramas? Is it this week and next week and the following week?
I wonder who will play big fat evil guy. And his crazy son. They need good budget. There are like 50 main characters there. And they are all important.
Too bad Kenneth McMillan is no longer alive. He played the Sheriff in the original TV version of “‘Salem’s Lot.” He also played the bad guy who forced Robert Hayes (“Airplane”) to walk around a tall building’s ledge in the second episode (“The Ledge”) in “Cat’s Eye.” He would have been good as the big, fat corrupt Mayor.
The reporting here is a bit off. In the book, Joe’s Mother is very much a part of the story and is also trapped under the Dome.
Not sure how this is going to translate to CBS. There’s some truly horrifying stuff in the book (NO SPOILERS) that really adds to one of the villains. But if they do it right, it might be interesting.
You go cuz! Have fun, but remember not to let it all go to your head!
Colin Ford was a very pleasant surprise Supernatural introduced me to and I’ve been following his work ever since. I’m positive he’ll do great. Besides, a series based on a Stephen King story? How can I not give this show a chance?
I think Colin will do a great job. He is a very talented guy, when he guested stared in the mob doctor and revolution this year it really showed his growth as an actor. I think the show will do great. So excited.
All I want to know is when, when, when. I really enjoyed the book, and hope it keeps close to it. The ending was really unexpected.
The people who made “The Simpsons” comments must not be Stephen King fans. King never even saw “The Simpsons” movie. So don’t go thinking that’s were he got the idea. He had the idea over 30 yrs ago.
Any word on whos doing the extras casting?
I have already seen and thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful vivid exciting movie in my mind as I read the book. It knocked me out, a very rare thing for me.
And I will be reading UTD again. I want this book as well as The Cell to stay pure for me. Therefore I will not watch a film to possibly change anything for me at least with these two. I purposely do not even own a tv. It is just not right for me. Thank you anyway. :*
I really enjoyed The Dome and have read It a few times I even reccomended it to my husband who also enjoyed. It augers ill that the characters have the same names but totally different!!! Dodee was a pot smoking lesbian who’s mother got killed In an airplane crash and her father was 1st town selectman who was Big Jim Rennie’s stooge she was no electrician!!!
