The trio behind Ted, the biggest comedy hit of last summer, are headed to Fox’s 2013-14 schedule. In an unusual move, I hear Fox has opted to go straight to series on the multi-camera live-action comedy written/executive produced by Ted co-writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild and executive produced by Ted co-writer/director/star Seth MacFarlane. The decision was made based on the pilot script, which I hear the network brass loved. This is the second scripted series set for next season, along with NBC’s comedy starring Michael J. Fox, which has 22-epsiode straight-to-series order.
The untitled Sulkin/Wild project already had a rich put pilot commitment that had a series penalty behind it. The comedy, from 20th Century Fox TV where MacFarlane is under a rich overall deal, centers on two successful guys in their 30s who have their lives turned upside down when their nightmare dads unexpectedly move in with them.
Writing team Wild and Sulkin have worked with MacFarlane for awhile — they have been on Family Guy since 2005, rising to executive producers. Family Guy is one of three animated series MacFarlane has on Fox, along with spinoff The Cleveland Show and American Dad, as well as the upcoming reboot of Carl Sagan’s Cosmos.

He has multiple hit shows already on the air, he’s hosting the oscars, his first feature is one of the biggest hits of the year, he releases an album in his free time, and his name is enough to get a project picked up straight to series. And oh yeah, he’s dating the Khaleesi. How much does it not suck to be Seth MacFarlane?
So this clown wants to turn everything he does into TED? Sooner or later, his luck is going to run out and it almost did a few years ago. He’s just getting a swelled head as of late and acting like someone he isn’t.
You mad bro?
Am I the only one who thinks it would be awesome if Patrick Stewart and Chevy Chase played the dad’s?
Sounds like it could be a younger version of Frasier.
I think this is a great idea if they get the right two dads.
exactly my thought reading this re: frasier
maybe a little more low brow? just a little
Lets hope these guys can come up with at least one writer (god forbid female) who can write believable female charcters: a chategory in which Ted epically failed. It’s okay when they’re cartoons, but no woman believes that someone as hot as live action Mila Kunis would actually put up with bring treated like Meg… At least if she did, we wouldn’t respect or relate to her.
