It was a decent but unspectacular ratings start for Cougar Town on its new network, TBS. The series’ fourth-season premiere at 10 PM last night drew a total of 2.2 million viewers and more than 1.3 million adults 18-49 and 613,000 adults 18-34 in Live+Same Day. That was on par or slightly lower than TBS’ recent comedy premieres for Men At Work (2.65 million total viewers, 1.63 million adults 18-49, 851,000 adults 18-34) and Sullivan & Son (2.5 million total viewers, 1.3 million 18-49s, 612,000 18-34s). Given Cougar Town‘s built-in name recognition after three seasons on ABC and its star power, with Courteney Cox leading the ensemble, it probably should’ve done better than brand new shows with lesser-known casts.

Solid numbers. I would imagine this earns them a fifth season if they hold it.
It’s been getting plenty of publicity on the radio where, according to said promos, the show is all about boozing and whoring. Someone needs to admit defeat with this wretched show, tell Courteney Cox she’s not all that and stick a fork in this turkey. It’s had more of a chance to gain an audience than 99% of shows that would have been cancelled after three episodes if they matched Cougar Town’s basement level ratings.
Lol, did TBS really think people would tune into this. Nobody watched it when it was on ABC, and no one is gonna watch this now.
TBS’ brand is “very funny,” yet none of their shows are actually funny. Ironic.

I thought I’d give it another chance. Oh my god it was awful. Writing was jagged and not funny. Delivery by the actors was flat and mechanical. I’m done. Good luck.

Brian Van Holt is the reason I watch this show. Such a solid actor. Loved him in John From Cin.
The problem with cult shows (which incidentally make up my entire list of shows I watch), is that the audience usually watches online. They are watched by people who are tech savvy, and would rather watch the show without commercials on their own time. Most viewers of crap like 2.5 Men (no disrespect to Jon Cryer and only limited disrespect to Ashton Kutcher), is watched by people who have nothing better to do, and usually aren’t even paying attention. I would feel guilty about watching shows online, but I don’t have a Nielsen box.
Yes they promoted it, but failed to say much about when it would premier. I recorded it and will watch tonight. I love CT. It is one of those shows that you need to understand the dynamics of the relationships of the characaters. You really have to watch a few episodes to truly understand the humor.

TBS didn’t promote the show enough. They should have started in July instead of waiting until September.
Cougar Town is not a bad show but don’t see it making it on TBS between Big Bang Theory reruns. I think NBC, CBS or FOX would have been a better fit. The ratings were bad on ABC. Courteney Cox is starting to look bad. Watch the first episode in season 1 and compare her appearance to last nights episode. You will notice a big difference in her looks. She’s approching 50 and wants to look 30. I think her biggest star role will be Monica on Friends. I think her best days in Hollywood are behind her.

I like Cougar Town and find some parts slowly paced but others are laugh out loud funny. I think the move to TBS definitely improved the show.
I hate cougar town I agree with crystal. All Bout winos n whores. I even hate the commercials. Courtney Cox is a huge disappointment.
Arrrrg. Just saw this for the first time. What a lousy script. All the women are portrayed as idiots. This has to be the worst show on TBS.
