Kirsten Dunst and Jim Sturgess are star-crossed lovers separated by class, wealth, and a pair of side by side planets whose gravities are mutually incompatible in Upside Down, the second feature from French-Argentinian director Juan Diego Solanas. More than two years after wrapping in late 2010, the ambitious science fantasy romance, made for only $50M, will finally get a limited North American platform release beginning March 15. A dual production by Studio 37 and Onyx Films, Upside Down is distributed by Millennium Entertainment.

This actually looks really good
Interesting concept, but I think I’ll be needing a dramamine before seeing this one. Trailer left me feeling a bit sea-sick, anyone else?
It actually does look good. Not the best title though…
Not the slightest bit impressed with the concept. Once you get past the up/down thing, it’s just a silly chick flick.
No, it looks like a really messed up version (maybe in a good way) of Romeo & Juliet.
Just because a concept can be imagined, doesn’t mean it should be executed. This is JUST. PLAIN. STUPID.
You’re right. Imagine a concept but scrap the ones that are “plain stupid”. Stay within the box at all times. Experimental should only go so far right?
I remember reading this way back when- it was an interesting concept; turns out, it looks just..MEH. I guess that’s the reason it took so long to be released, and a limited one at that.
Who decided up was up and down was down?
The same people who think North is up and South is down.
This concept looks like something an 8 year old would think about when they get tired of pretending that the floor is lava.
It may be “outside of the box” or experimental, but when the physics are impossible and stupid, the audience won’t buy it. Even the most ignorant of the laws of physics will look at this and think it just isn’t right and it will leave a residual effect on the whole movie.
It’s art, not science.
Well, it certainly is a few hours better spent than some of the trash I’ve seen this year. And, although stupidly unrealistic, it’s quite an audacious concept. If Kirstin is waiting up on my ceiling, where are my anti-grav boots?
the problem is Jim Sturgess…i just get annoyed watching him after 5 minutes…he always has that same pained expression on his face no matter what the character is going thru…boring!
Oh, great-ANOTHER “two worlds that seem to one another to be nearby but upside down” picture. May as well call this “Upside Down 3″
When will Hollywood come up with some fresh ideas?!
Made for only $50 mil? Isn’t that alot nowadays?
Made for “only $50 million”? It’s getting a “limited North American platform release” and has been on the shelf for 2+ years — $50 million is going to turn into a huge write-off.
Only cost $50M? Only $50M? For a film starring Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst? With a star crossed lovers plot line? Set in adjacent worlds with opposing gravity? Someone was high the day they green lit this. But, hey, it’s ONLY fifty million dollars.
Don’t know where the snootiness is coming from, this looks pretty fabulous.
It has very interesting concept. Very beautiful breathtaking visuals. And also very weak and boring love story. I wish they would do action movie about this. It looks amazing with all that gravity.
I don’t think criticizing Ashton’s ability to act is relevant for this project. He may not be able to provide a wide range, we all agree, but he was chosen for this part because of his common appearance and mannerism as Steve Jobs.
Please watch an old interview with Steve and you will see the resemblance. In fact, I’ll paste one for comparison. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I462wWNyGUY
Someone put forward an actor better suited for the role, please. Keep in mind this is Hollywood.
Seems Kirsten Dunst is being typecast as the girl who kisses people hanging upside down.
