Michael Bay just announced new casting for Transformers 4 on his website. “I just hired a great new actor for Transformers 4 to star against Mark Wahlberg,” Bay wrote. “Jack Reynor, he is an Irish kid that came to America with 30 bucks in his pocket. Pretty ballsy. Seriously who does that? Anyway I spotted him in a great little Irish movie What Richard Did. This kid is the real deal.
Transformers 4, is not a reboot,” Bay added, explaining that the rumor has been floating around on the net. “This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago,” Bay writes. “The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.”
WME reps Reynor.

Is he repped?
WME. Bay is hilarious.
So glad Michael Bay spotted this kid. I guess he doesn’t need a casting agent.
So is Wahlberg playing Optimus Prime then? Gutsy casting for Prime.
no you dumbass that is peter cullen
Michael Baaaaaaaay! You’re everything that’s wrong with Hollywood!
you’re everything wrong with the internet.
Enough, already.
I hope Megatron is back, with or without Hugo Weaving voicing him. All hail Megatron !
Hopefully Frank Welker does Megatron. It is sad when the cartoon Transformers Prime is better written than this film.
Mark Wahlberg? As though the series couldn’t get any worse, a guy who can barely act is chosen for a starring role.
Go watch Basketball Diaries and Boogies Nights again.
Marky Mark plays himself in Basketball Diaries, which got bad reviews at the time. Paul Thomas Anderson is the main reason for Boogie Nights’ success. He needed someone to fit the role of a dull Dirk Diggler and Marky Mark is it.
Agreed. He was awesome in Boogie Nights. I can’t remember the name of that movie he did with Will Ferrell and Dwayne ‘you can go ahead and call me the Rock again’ Johnson. I liked him in Ted as well.
And THE FIGHTER. He gets lost amid Bale’s theatrics, but Wahlberg is terrific there. Good in THE DEPARTED, too.
What are you talking about? The Fighter’s supporting cast was the only thing the movie had going for it. Wahlberg was the weak link in it — that’s why the movie didn’t get any further because its anchor couldn’t deliver. Basically, he aims for the same character in his movies: the rude, “tough” guy with a troubled past and little use for words. And come on, he’s a really minor part in The Departed where, again, he’s playing the same character.
It’s not about the money for Bay anymore, so why keep making these awful movies? For the love of God the guy can make whatever he wants. Or can he?
It’s about Michael Bay’s EGO and enormous box-office
I’m looking forward to the Bay-less reboots…
I think the movie will be great! It’s Transformers! You either hate it or love it! I grew up on the stuff and can barely wait for this movie!!!
Doesn’t really matter – A Numbnuts Braindead Movie for Numbnut Movie fans – but if it makes money… HEY!!! We’re GOOD!!!
So Shia Labeouf and all the other cast from all 3 movies aren’t in? It won’t be right.
No, Mark will be playing Sam.
Michael Bay is the authority on ballsy Irishmen.
1. If you grew up on these toys in the 80′s you actually despise the movie for its lack of fidelity to the source material.
2. The CGI is a cluttered mess. The story riddled with holes. The acting historically atrocious. I love big summer movies but aside from kids who don’t know better, what’s to like here?
3. Marky Mark struck gold with PTA. He has a very narrow range and hits the ball on the screws in that zone. He also is smart to choose, generally, guys like Russell and Macfarlane. But he can’t stretch. Not even as far as Willis did in 6th sense. Ever see The Happening?
Marky plays the system great, linked up with the right people at the right time.
But he’s luckier than he is good. You need a few clutch breaks in Hwood and he’s gotten them.
Most of you have obviously not seen very many Mark Wahlberg movies. Shooter, Four Brothers, We Own The Night and Italian Job were excellent movies and I can hardly wait for Broken City which he plays opposite Russell Crowe. As for Transformers, Megatron died in the last one so he won’t be back and as for people complaining the movies don’t follow the original cartoon show, it is not supposed to. These movies are being made for the kids nowadays not for all us who watched it in the 80′s and 90′s and are now 30 years old. It is using some elements from the original and many of the spin offs to try and make something new.
Transformers is meant to be a flashy big budget summer movie franchise. It’s not some carefully weaved dramatic protest against Obama. Realize what it is and buy a ticket or don’t. If you want it to be a different movie, just go see a different movie. There are films for every audience. The audience for this one is large and they’re going to keep making these.
Please explain how the Transformers are supposed to be a “carefully weaved dramatic protest against Obama.”
This should be good.
Please learn to read the beginning of a sentence.
“It’s not some carefully weaved dramatic protest against Obama.”
Your not understanding his comment, read it again!
Mark W, isn’t a brilliant actor, however you can count on him to always give a solid performance. I like him on-screen.
I guess Taylor Lautner, can cross another project OFF his list. He was reported to be in this about a year ago. I read that here, as well as some Gus Van Sant project.
if I was an investor, I’d throw my money at transformers…but as a moviegoer, zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…….
Apparently the academy thinks he’s worthy w already a nomination under his belt. I agree with them. Mark works hard for what he has, and deserves his success. For you to sit an criticize that, I hope you get paid for it.
Have to disagree on The Fighter. Wahlberg is really good, he just isn’t a showy actor like everyone else who screams and twitches their way through that movie. Departed… Meh.
I’d laugh if between films they killed off Shia’s character.
I think Ehren Kruger will do a good job scripting the next one. I am hoping Michael Bay also calls me to appear in this one as well.
I really enjoyed all 3 Transformers movies & own them all on DVD! But that should be it! Quit while you’re ahead! We don’t need a new cast of actors coming in & ruining a great trilogy! Enough already I say!
“This Transformers will feel very different then the last three”
Yes, this one is going to have a plot. Sorry, Mike.
Mark’s best acting was in “Fear”. After seeing that movie as a teen I disliked him in everything for a while until “The Departed”.
He’s Channing Tatum 1.0. I like him in comedy though. He was good in “Ted”.
